Complementary electric Aharonov-Bohm effect

William Moreau, Dennis K. Ross

A complementary electric Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect is proposed and investigated where one branch of a chopped and split electron beam traverses a region with an electric field and upon interference with the other branch no phase shift would be observed. The analysis of the proposed experiment is carried out (1) in a semiclassical (SC) eikonal approximation and (2) in a complete quantum-mechanical (QM) calculation with a plane-wave approximation similar to AB's original paper. The QM phase shift is the sum of the SC phase shift plus an AB-like phase shift for a constant potential. While the SC analysis predicts that there must be a phase shift, the full QM indicates that a null phase shift is possible.

Effects of magnetic and Aharonov–Bohm flux fields on information entropy with modified Kratzer plus screened Coulomb potential for selected diatomic molecules

Cecilia N. Isonguyo, Eno E. Ituen, I. B. Okon +3 more

The Shannon information entropy for scandium fluoride (ScF) and hydrogen (H2) molecules in the presence of magnetic and Aharanov–Bohm (AB) fields with modified Kratzer plus screened Coulomb potential in the position and momentum coordinate is investigated. The wavefunction and probability density are obtained by solving the two-dimensional (2D) Schrödinger wave equation using the Nikiforov–Uvarov functional analysis method and then applied to calculate the Shannon entropy. The graphical behaviour of the 2D wavefunction and probability density is showcased. Our results depict the effects of the external fields on Shannon entropy for ScF and (H2), the negative values of the position Shannon entropies obtained imply higher localisation of the particles and molecules indicating more stability of the system. Another interesting part of this work is that Bialynicki–Birula–Mycielski inequality is tested and proven bounded for both diatomic molecules. A few to mention, this research will enhance the apprehension of the dynamics of quantum molecules and systems subjected to external fields, quantum information signal processing and communication.

Influence of External Magnetic and Aharanov-Bohm (AB) Fields on the Energy Spectra of the Modified Kratzer plus Screened Coulomb Potential

E. B. Ettah, Michael E. Ishaje

In this article, the modified Kratzer plus screened Coulomb potential is scrutinized taking into consideration the effects of magnetic and AB flux fields within the non-relativistic regime using the Nikiforov-Uvarov-Functional Analysis method (NUFA) method. The energy equation and wave function of the system are obtained in close form. We find that the totality of effects these fields result in removal of degeneracy and raising the bound state energy of the system. More so, it could be concluded that to control the energy spectra of this system, the AB-flux and magnetic field will do so greatly. The results from this study can be applied in condensed matter physics, atomic and molecular physics.
