Abstract

The authors examine the emission from the systems of one or two two-level atoms in an ideal cavity with one mode at multiphoton resonance. Exact results for the two-time dipole correlation function and the time-dependent spectra of multiphoton-induced fluorescence are presented.

Two-photon emission spectrum of a two-level atom in an ideal cavity

Lin-sheng He, Xun‐Li Feng

The time-dependent two-photon emission spectra of a two-level atom interacting with a single-mode radiation field in an ideal cavity have been studied. The expressions of the system operators as a function of time have been derived based on the two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model and Heisenberg equation. As a result, the theoretical curves of the time-dependent two-photon emission spectra have been given. The features of two-photon emission spectra depend not only on the photon statistical distribution of the initial field, such as the thermal field, the squeezed vacuum field, and the coherent field, but also on the passband width of the filter detector \ensuremath{\Gamma}. The two-photon emission spectra exhibit multi- peaked structures when \ensuremath{\Gamma}(two-photon coupling constant).

Emission Spectra of an Atom for Multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings Model

Kuniaki Matsuo, Hiroshi Iwasawa

The emission spectra of an atom in a cavity for the multiphoton Jaynes–Cummings model are investigated. Using Eberly's formula for the time-dependent physical spectrum, the analytical expression for the atomic emission spectrum is obtained from the two-time dipole-moment correlation function of the atom. The appearance of two strong peaks in the spectrum is explained in detail, and the relationship between the initial photon distributions and the shapes of the spectra are examined. The fundamental differences in the atomic emission spectra for the two-photon and multiphoton models are specified. Furthermore, the role of the detector filter is thoroughly studied. It is explicitly shown that the atomic emission spectra can be obtained by averaging over the convolution integrals between the Fourier transform of the atomic dipole-moment correlation function associated with a pure number state and the detector filter function on frequency domain. The comparisons of the spectra for a coherent initial field to those for a thermal initial field are presented.

Effects of Dipole Interaction on Emission Spectra of Atoms in Two-Photon Processes

Zhenfei Luo, Zhizhan Xu, Lei Xu

We study the interaction of a pair of coupling two-level atoms with a single mode of the radiation field in an ideal cavity via two-photon resonant transition and/or degenerate Raman coupled processes. In particular, we consider the emission spectra for both two-photon processes. The effects of atomic coupling are analyzed and the properties of emission spectra for large photon number of the cavity-mode are discussed.

Multiphoton emission spectrum of two atoms interacting with two modes of radiation field

Jian Feng, Song Tong-Qiang, Wenzheng Wang +1 more

The multiphoton emission spectrum of a pair of coupling two-level atoms interacting with two modes of the radiation field is studied. A general expression for the two-mode multiphoton emission spectrum is presented. The non-degenerate two-photon emission spectra of two atoms are calculated when the two modes of the field are in various number states and some new results are obtained. It is found that the two-atom emission spectrum in the two-mode vacuum field reflects the atomic dipole-dipole interaction more sensitively than in the case of a single-mode vacuum field.

Nonlinear and Stimulated Effects in Resonance Fluorescence of One and Two Two-level Atoms

Vladislav Cheltsov

The resonance fluorescence spectrum of one and two two-level atoms in an ideal cavity with one resonant mode is investigated as a function of the initial excitation of the system. The analysis is carried out in the Stark representation with respect to the cavity's field and in first-order perturbation theory with respect to the fluorescence field. In the absence of the field of the cavity (n c = 0) and under an initial excitation of one atom only, the spectrum consists of two lines which are symmetrical with respect to ωa. In all other cases the spectrum has a central line at ωa and other lines at ωa ± 2 Ω. The intensity of the higher (ωa ± 4 Ω) harmonics is small and decreases as 1/ 2 c c with increasing n>c. The nonlinearity of the interaction hamiltonian results in the parametric (with respect to the field of the cavity) amplification of the ωa + 2 Ω harmonic and the attenuation of the ωa − 2 Ω harmonic. The stimulated emission of the ωa ± 2 Ω harmonics, vanishing in a strong (n c » 1) field, is shown to exist for two atoms.

Emission spectrum of two atoms interacting with two modes of the cavity field with different coupling constants through a multiphoton Raman process

Jian Feng, Song Tong-Qiang, Gao Yun-feng

The emission spectrum of a pair of effective two-level atoms interacting with two modes of the radiation field with different coupling constants through a multiphoton Raman process is studied. A general expression for the emission spectrum with two modes of the field being in arbitrary states is presented. Our results show that when two modes of the field are in arbitrary number states, the spectrum is always symmetric about the resonant frequency , although the Hamiltonian of the system is asymmetric which is induced by the two different atom-field coupling constants. This property is analysed with an analytic method.
