WAVE PACKET DYNAMICS AND RABI OSCILLATIONS IN TWO-COUPLED BOSE–EINSTEIN CONDENSATES CONFINED IN AN OPTICAL LATTICE

Aranya B. Bhattacherjee, Man Mohan

We predict the collapse and recurrence of Rabi oscillations in a two-component Bose–Einstein condensate trapped in an optical lattice. The optical trap creates a periodic potential with a periodic coupling. The collapse and revival sequence is explained on the basis of wave-packet dynamics. The collapse and revival sequence is found to be a consequence of competition between the potential energy difference and the driving frequency.

DYNAMICS OF CIGAR-SHAPED BOSE-EINSTEIN CONDENSATES WITH THREE-BODY RECOMBINATION AND EXTERNAL FEEDING IN VARIABLE SHAPE OPTICAL LATTICE

Maïk Delon Mboumba

The dynamics of dissipative matter wave bright solitons with three- body recombination and external feeding, in a highly asymmetric trap and a deformable shape optical lattice, is studied. Using the variational approach, we derive and analyze the variational equations for the time evolution of the width and amplitude of dissipative solitons, and effective potential of the system. We examine the effects of the optical lattice deformability on the stability of the system. Furthermore, we perform direct numerical experiments to confirm our analytical approach, and good agreement is observed.

MODULATIONAL INSTABILITY OF DIPOLAR BOSE–EINSTEIN CONDENSATES IN AN OPTICAL LATTICE

Haifeng Chen, J. C. Huang, Zhengwei Xie

From the discrete nonlinear Schrödinger equation and the linear stability analysis, the modulational instability (MI) of dipolar Bose–Einstein Condensates (BECs) in an optical lattice is studied. The MI relation of the dipolar BECs in the optical lattice with the on-site interaction and the inter-site interaction is obtained. The results show that there is a great influence of inter-site interaction on MI of dipolar BEC in the optical lattice. This gives us some useful information for manipulating dipolar BECs in practice.
