Abstract

A novel modulation scheme for making a high-speed Quantum-key-distribution (QKD) with decoy-state is proposed and confirmed. Using the proposed scheme, photon number is optimised, and high-speed QKD with decoy-state for a metro-area network has successfully established.

High-speed light source is realized for decoy-state quantum key distribution (QKD) at telecom wavelength of 1.55 µm.By implementing two different electrical pulses together and triggering with 100 MHz pseudorandom number to drive the laser diode, the signal-state and the decoy-state pulses are prepared with identical pulse duration of 25 ps and similar spectral characteristics, avoiding the eavesdropper's attack by temporal and spectral analysis. The intensity fluctuation of the light source is quantified to satisfy the practical decoy-state QKD with random intensity error. The characteristics of the light source are analyzed with a high-speed single-photon detector.

Quantum key distribution with the decoy-state method

XiangBin WANG, Jiazhong Hu

The decoy-state method of quantum key distribution(QKD) successfully solves the loophole of Photon-Number-Splitting attack and it also makes people to demonstrate QKD with a long distance. In this paper, we review the development of QKD, from BB84 protocol to the demonstration of three-intensity decoy-state method. We also explain how to get the final security key rate from the input parameters.

Intensity modulator for secure, stable, and high-performance decoy-state quantum key distribution

Feng-Yu Lu, Xing Ping Lin, Shuang Wang +8 more

Abstract The decoy-state method substantially improves the performance of quantum key distribution (QKD) and perfectly solves crucial issues caused by multiphoton pulses. In recent years, the decoy-state method has occupied a key position in practicality, and almost all the QKD systems have employed the decoy-state method. However, the imperfections of traditional intensity modulators limit the performance of the decoy-state method and bring side channels. In this work, a special intensity modulator and its accompanying modulation method are designed and experimentally verified for the secure, stable, and high-performance decoy-state QKDs. The experimental result indicates that its stable and adjustable intensities, convenient two-level modulation, inherently high speed, and compact structure is extremely fit for future trends and will help the decoy-state method to be perfectly applied to QKD systems.

An Intensity-Stable Pulse Source Based on Optical Injection for High-Speed Quantum Key Distribution

Wenxu Zhao, Tao Wang, Xun Zhou +2 more

Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) provides Alice and Bob with a secure key to prevent third-party eavesdropping. Due to the lack of an ideal single-photon source, weak coherent light sources are widely used. The decoy state method can make up for the security loophole brought by weak coherent light sources - photon number splitting attack (PNS). The specific method of decoy state quantum key distribution is to send light pulses of different intensity levels. Taking the three-intensity decoy state method as an example, one is a signal state with an average photon number of u; one is a decoy state with an average photon number of d; and one is a vacuum state with an average photon number of v. Even if the eavesdropper is more powerful, he cannot distinguish which state the pulse comes from. Therefore, the accuracy of the light pulse intensity is crucial to the security of decoy state quantum key distribution [1] .
