Abstract

The decoherence of a central electron spin of an atom coupled to an anti-ferromagnetic spin bath in the presence of a time varying B-Field (VBF) is investigated applying the Holstein-Primak off and Bloch transformations approaches. The Boltzmann entropy and the specific heat capacity at a given temperature are obtained and show the correlation of the coupling of the spin bath and the electron spin of the central atom. At low frequencies the coherence of the coupled system is dominated by the magnetic field intensity. At low VBF intensity, there is decrease in entropy and heat capacity at increase external magnetic field that show the decoherence suppression of the central electron spin atom. The crossing observed in the specific heat capacity corresponds to the critical field point Bc of the system which represents the point of transition from the anti-ferromagnetic system to the ferromagnetic one.

Effect of the Variable B-Field on the Dynamic of a Central Electron Spin Coupled to an Anti-Ferromagnetic Qubit Bath

Martin Tchoffo, Georges Collince Fouokeng, Siaka Massou +5 more

This present issue is an extension of the work of Y. Xiao-Zhong et al. who investigated the influence of constant external magnetic field on the decoherence of a central electron spin of atom coupled to an anti-ferromagnetic environment. We have shown in this work that the character variability of the field induces oscillations amongst the eigen modes of the environment. This observation is made via the derivation of the transition probability density of state, a manner by which critical parameters (parameters where transition occur) of the system could be obtained as it shows resonance peak. We equally observed that the two different magnons modes resulting from the frequency splitting via the application of the time-varying external B-Field, exhibit each a resonant peak of similar amplitude at different temperature ranges. This additional information shows that the probability for the central spin system to remain in its initially prepared diabatic state is enhanced for some temperature ranges for the corresponding two magnon modes. Hence, these temperature ranges where the probability density is maximum could save as decoherence free environment; an important requirement for the implementation of quantum computation and information processing in solid state circuitry. The theoretical and numerical results presented for the decoherence time and the probability density are that of a decohered central electron spin coupled to an anti-ferromagnetic spin bath. The theory is based on a spin wave approximation and on the density matrix using both transformations of Bloch, Primakov and Bogoliobuv in the adiabatic limit.

Coherence of an extended central spin model with a coupled spin bath

Pengcheng Lu, Hailong Shi, Like Cao +4 more

We study an extended central spin model with an isotropic nearest-neighbor spin-exchange interaction among the bath spins. The system is controllable by external magnetic fields applied on the central spin and the bath, respectively. We construct a basis set of the Hilbert space and express the Hamiltonian of the extended model into a series of $2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}2$ block matrices to obtain the exact solution of the model successfully. Therefrom, the coherence and the spin polarization of the central spin are investigated. We find that if the couplings among the bath spins are antiferromagnetic, the central spin has good coherence and polarization at low temperatures. Moreover, the decoherence is greatly suppressed at the critical point where the strengths of the central and the bath magnetic field take the same value. A dephasing phenomenon is identified when the initial state of the central spin is unpolarized.

Decoherence and control of a qubit in spin baths: an exact master equation study

Jun Jing, Lian-Ao Wu

In spin-based nanosystems for quantum information processing, electron spin qubits are subject to decoherence due to their interactions with nuclear spin environments. In this paper, we present an exact master equation for a central spin-1/2 system in time-dependent external fields and coupled to a spin-half bath in terms of hyperfine interaction. The master equation provides a unified description for free and controlled dynamics of the central spin and is formally independent of the details and size of spin environments. Different from the previous approaches, the master equation remains exact even in the presence of external control fields. Using the parameters for realistic nanosystems with nonzero nuclear spins, such as GaAs, we investigate the Overhauser's effect on the decoherence dynamics of the central spin under different distributions of bath-spin frequencies and system-bath coupling strengths. Furthermore, we apply the leakage elimination operator, in a nonperturbative manner, to this system to suppress the decoherence induced by hyperfine interaction.

Time evolution and decoherence of a spin- 12 particle coupled to a spin bath in thermal equilibrium

Yamen Hamdouni, Francesco Petruccione

The time evolution of a spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ particle under the influence of a locally applied external magnetic field, and interacting with anisotropic spin environment in thermal equilibrium at temperature $T$ is studied. The exact analytical form of the reduced density matrix of the central spin is calculated explicitly for a finite number of bath spins. The case of an infinite number of environmental spins is investigated using the convergence of the rescaled bath operators to normal Gaussian random variables. In this limit, we derive the analytical form of the components of the Bloch vector for antiferromagnetic interactions within the bath, and we investigate the short-time and long-time behavior of reduced dynamics. The effect of the external magnetic field, the anisotropy, and the temperature of the bath on the decoherence of the central spin are discussed.

Influence of an external magnetic field on the decoherence of a central spin coupled to an antiferromagnetic environment

Xiao-Zhong Yuan, Hsi‐Sheng Goan, Ka-Di Zhu

Using the spin wave approximation, we study the decoherence dynamics of a central spin coupled to an antiferromagnetic environment under the application of an external global magnetic field. The external magnetic field affects the decoherence process through its effect on the antiferromagnetic environment. It is shown explicitly that the decoherence factor which displays a Gaussian decay with time depends on the strength of the external magnetic field and the crystal anisotropy field in the antiferromagnetic environment. When the strength of the external magnetic field is increased to the critical field point at which the spin–flop transition (a first-order quantum phase transition) happens in the antiferromagnetic environment, the decoherence of the central spin reaches its highest point. This result is consistent with several recent quantum phase transition witness studies. The influences of the environmental temperature on the decoherence behaviour of the central spin are also investigated.

Effect of Noise on the Decoherence of a Central Electron Spin Coupled to an Antiferromagnetic Spin Bath

Georges Collince Fouokeng, Martin Tchoffo, S. Moussiliou +3 more

We analyze the influence of a two-state autocorrelated noise on the decoherence and on the tunneling Landau-Zener (LZ) transitions during a two-level crossing of a central electron spin (CES) coupled to a one dimensional anisotropic-antiferomagnetic spin, driven by a time-dependent global external magnetic field. The energy splitting of the coupled spin system is found through an approach that computes the noise-averaged frequency. At low magnetic field intensity, the decoherence (or entangled state) of a coupled spin system is dominated by the noise intensity. The effects of the magnetic field pulse and the spin gap antiferromagnetic material used suggest to us that they may be used as tools for the direct observation of the tunneling splitting through the LZ transitions in the sudden limit. We found that the dynamical frequencies display basin-like behavior decay with time, with the birth of entanglement, while the LZ transition probability shows Gaussian shape.
