Entanglement of Two Charged Bosons in Strongly Anisotropic Traps

Abstract

Examination of the ground-state correlation properties of two Coulombically interacting bosons confined in strongly anisotropic harmonic potentials is carried out within the framework of the single-mode approximation of the transverse components. The linear entropy of the quasi-one dimensional systems is discussed in dependence on the confinement anisotropy and the interaction strength. A comparison with a strictly one-dimensional limit is performed.

Quantum Entanglement of Two Harmonically Trapped Dipolar Particles

Przemysław Kościk

We study systems of two identical dipolar particles confined in quasi one-dimensional harmonic traps. Numerical results for the dependencies of the entanglement on the control parameters of the systems are provided and discussed in detail. In the limit of a strong interaction between the particles, the occupancies and the von Neumann entropies of the bosonic and fermionic ground states are derived in closed analytic forms by applying the harmonic approximation. The strong correlation regimes of the system with the dipolar bosons and the system with the charged ones are compared with each other in regard to aspects of their entanglement.

Note on the Harmonic Approximation in the Treatment of Entanglement: N Cold Trapped Ions

Przemysław Kościk, Radosław Maj

We study a one-dimensional system composed of N charged bosons confined in an external harmonic potential. In the limit of a strong interaction between the particles, we apply the harmonic approximation and derive an integral representation for the purity of the one-particle reduced density matrix, enabling an easy determination of the asymptotic entanglement. Results for the dependence of the asymptotic linear entropy on N are provided and discussed in detail for the first time.

Entanglement for excited states of ultracold bosonic atoms in one-dimensional harmonic traps with contact interaction

Hsuan Tung Peng, Y. K. Ho

We have investigated quantum entanglement for two interacting ultracold bosonic atoms in one-dimensional harmonic traps. The effective potential is modeled by delta interaction. For this two-atom system, we have investigated quantum entanglement properties, such as von Neumann entropy and linear entropy for its ground state and excited states. Using a computational scheme that is different from previously employed, a total of the lowest 16 states are studied. Here we show the dependencies of entanglement properties under various interacting strengths. Comparisons for the ground state entanglement are made with earlier results in the literature. New results for the other 15 excited states are reported here.

Ground-State Properties of Charged Bosons Confined in a One-Dimensional Harmonic Double-Well Trap: Diffusion Monte Carlo Calculations

Jing Jin, Tang Yi

The diffusion Monte Carlo method is applied to study the ground-state properties of charged bosons in one dimension confined in a harmonic double-well trap. The particles interact repulsively through a Coulombic 1/ r potential. Numerical results show that the well separation has significant influence on the ground-state properties of the system. When the interaction of the system is weak, ground-state energy decreases with the increasing well separation and has a minimal value. If the well separation increases continually, the ground-state energy increases and approaches to a constant gradually. This effect will be abatable in the strong interacting system. In addition, by calculating the density of the systems for different interaction strengths with various well separations, we find that the density increases abnormally when the well separation is large at the centre of the system.

Fermionic Properties of Two Interacting Bosons in a Two-Dimensional Harmonic Trap

Pere Mujal, A. Polls, Bruno Juliá-Díaz

The system of two interacting bosons in a two-dimensional harmonic trap is compared with the system consisting of two noninteracting fermions in the same potential. In particular, we discuss how the properties of the ground state of the system, e.g., the different contributions to the total energy, change as we vary both the strength and range of the atom-atom interaction. In particular, we focus on the short-range and strong interacting limit of the two-boson system and compare it to the noninteracting two-fermion system by properly symmetrizing the corresponding degenerate ground state wave functions. In that limit, we show that the density profile of the two-boson system has a tendency similar to the system of two noninteracting fermions. Similarly, the correlations induced when the interaction strength is increased result in a similar pair correlation function for both systems.
