Abstract

In recent years, research in reversible logic has attracted significance attention leading to different approaches such as synthesis, optimization, simulation and verification. In this paper, we propose Design of Efficient Reversible Binary Comparator. The input circuit and one-bit comparator cell using NOT, PG and CNOT gates are designed. The n-bit reversible binary comparator are designed using input circuit as first stage and one-bit comparator cell as second stage and so on. The Power consumption, Delay, Garbage outputs and Constant inputs are computed. It is observed that the Quantum cost and Garbage output values are less in the proposed technique compared to the existing approaches.

Reversible logic has attracted significance attention in recent years, leading to different approaches such as synthesis, optimization, simulation and verification. In this paper, we propose the design and optimization of n-bit reversible binary comparator. The circuit for MSB and one-bit comparator cell using NOT, PG and CNOT gates are designed. The n-bit reversible binary comparator is designed using circuit for MSB as first stage to compare MSBs and one-bit comparator cell as second stage and so on to compare lesser significant bit positions. The power consumption, delay, garbage outputs and constant inputs are computed. It is observed that the quantum cost and garbage output values are less in the proposed technique compared to the existing approaches.

An optimized design of binary comparator circuit in quantum computing

Ankur Sarker, M. Shamiul Amin, Avishek Bose +1 more

Reversible logic; transforms logic signal in a way that allows the original input signals to be recovered from the produced outputs, has attracted great attention because of its application in diverse areas such as quantum computing, low power computing, nanotechnology, DNA computing, quantum dot cellular automata, optical computing. In this paper, we design low power binary comparators using reversible logic gates. Firstly, single bit binary reversible comparator circuits are designed using different reversible gates along with proposed gate named Newly Proposed Gate. Then, these procedures are generalized for constructing binary n-bit reversible comparator circuit. The design synthesis consists of two parts: Comparator Cell and Propagator Cell. An algorithm, based on our proposed design, shows that proposed circuit reduces overall cost and it outperforms than existing sequential comparator circuits. Also, comparing with existing tree-based comparator circuit, proposed design reduces quantum cost, garbage output and gate count in a significance level which means better improvement as cost of any quantum circuit is directly associated with quantum cost, garbage output and gate count.

Today, reversible logic circuits has attracted considerable attention in improving some fields like nanotechnology, quantum computing, and low power design. In this paper 4 bit reversible comparator based on classical logic circuit is represented which uses existing reversible gates. In this design we try to reduce optimization parameters like number of constant inputs, garbage outputs, and quantum cost. The results show that, the proposed comparator has 4 quantum cost and one constant input less than the prior design. 1

Design of fault tolerant n bit reversible comparator for optimization of garbage and Ancilla bits

H. V. Jayashree, V K Agarwal, P Venkatasree Charan +1 more

Reversible logic is the emerging topic for research due to its advantage of low energy consumption. Fault tolerant circuit design is required to give error free outputs. In this paper we present an optimized n bit Reversible Fault Tolerant Comparator design using parity preserving reversible logic gates. The Design involves MSB comparison as the first stage followed by Next Bit comparison stage which contributes for 1 bit garbage-less comparator design. The Design is generalized for n bit comparison. The performance parameters are analyzed for n bit. Our work outperforms the existing reversible fault tolerant comparator designs in terms of garbage output and Ancilla inputs or constant inputs. This efficiency of our design helps in reducing the footprint of the design.

Design of efficient reversible logic-based binary and BCD adder circuits

Himanshu Thapliyal, Nagarajan Ranganathan

Reversible logic is gaining significance in the context of emerging technologies such as quantum computing since reversible circuits do not lose information during computation and there is one-to-one mapping between the inputs and outputs. In this work, we present a class of new designs for reversible binary and BCD adder circuits. The proposed designs are primarily optimized for the number of ancilla inputs and the number of garbage outputs and are designed for possible best values for the quantum cost and delay. In reversible circuits, in addition to the primary inputs, some constant input bits are used to realize different logic functions which are referred to as ancilla inputs and are overheads that need to be reduced. Further, the garbage outputs which do not contribute to any useful computations but are needed to maintain reversibility are also overheads that need to be reduced in reversible designs. First, we propose two new designs for the reversible ripple carry adder: (i) one with no input carry c 0 and no ancilla input bits, and (ii) one with input carry c 0 and no ancilla input bits. The proposed reversible ripple carry adder designs with no ancilla input bits have less quantum cost and logic depth (delay) compared to their existing counterparts in the literature. In these designs, the quantum cost and delay are reduced by deriving designs based on the reversible Peres gate and the TR gate. Next, four new designs for the reversible BCD adder are presented based on the following two approaches: (i) the addition is performed in binary mode and correction is applied to convert to BCD when required through detection and correction, and (ii) the addition is performed in binary mode and the result is always converted using a binary to BCD converter. The proposed reversible binary and BCD adders can be applied in a wide variety of digital signal processing applications and constitute important design components of reversible computing.

OPTIMIZED REVERSIBLE MULTIPLIER CIRCUIT

Majid Haghparast, MAJID MOHAMMADI, Keivan Navi +1 more

Reversible logic circuits have received significant attention in quantum computing, low power CMOS design, optical information processing, DNA computing, bioinformatics, and nanotechnology. This paper presents two new 4 × 4 bit reversible multiplier designs which have lower hardware complexity, less garbage bits, less quantum cost and less constant inputs than previous ones, and can be generalized to construct efficient reversible n × n bit multipliers. An implementation of reversible HNG is also presented. This implementation shows that the full adder design using HNG is one of the best designs in term of quantum cost. An implementation of MKG is also presented in order to have a fair comparison between our proposed reversible multiplier designs and the existing counterparts. The proposed reversible multipliers are optimized in terms of quantum cost, number of constant inputs, number of garbage outputs and hardware complexity. They can be used to construct more complex systems in nanotechnology.
