Non-Markovian entanglement evolution of two uncoupled qubits

Abstract

Two noninteracting qubits, initially prepared in an entangled state, are coupled to their own independent environments and evolve under their influence. The reduced non-Markovian dynamics of two qubits is exact for arbitrary model parameters. Necessary and sufficient conditions for nonvanishing entanglement are formulated for both zero and nonzero temperatures and arbitrary time. It is shown that (i) entanglement dynamics can effectively be controlled by a finite quantum system coupled to one of the qubits and (ii) dynamical symmetry of the controlling quantum system can influence significantly entanglement of the qubits and results in its nonmonotonic decay.

Entanglement persistence in contact with the environment: exact results

Jerzy Dajka, Marcin Mierzejewski, J. Łuczka

The evolution of quantum entanglement of a pair of non-interacting qubits is studied for the case where one of them is non-dissipatively but dephasingly coupled to the environment. The reduced non-Markovian dynamics of the qubits is exact for an arbitrary strength of coupling to the environment and the arbitrary frequency spectrum of environment fluctuations. While for the subohmic and ohmic environments the entanglement diminishes, for the superohmic zero-temperature environment it survives for a long time.

Non-Markovian entanglement dynamics between two coupled qubits in the same environment

Wei Cui, Zairong Xi, Yu Pan

We analyze the dynamics of the entanglement in two independent non-Markovian channels. In particular, we focus on the entanglement dynamics as a function of the initial states and the channel parameters like the temperature and the ratio $r$ between $ω_0$ the characteristic frequency of the quantum system of interest, and $ω_c$ the cut-off frequency of Ohmic reservoir. We give a stationary analysis of the concurrence and find that the dynamic of non-markovian entanglement concurrence $\mathcal{C}_ρ(t)$ at temperature $k_BT=0$ is different from the $k_BT>0$ case. We find that "entanglement sudden death" (ESD) depends on the initial state when $k_BT=0$, otherwise the concurrence always disappear at finite time when $k_BT>0$, which means that ESD must happen. The main result of this paper is that the non-Markovian entanglement dynamic is fundamentally different from the Markovian one. In the Markovian channel, entanglement decays exponentially and vanishes only asymptotically, but in the non-Markovian channel the concurrence $\mathcal{C}_ρ(t)$ oscillates, especially in the high temperature case. Then an open-loop controller adjusted by the temperature is proposed to control the entanglement and prolong the ESD time.

Controllable dynamics of two separate qubits in Bell states

Jun Jing, Zhiguo Lü, Guo-Hong Yang

The dynamics of entanglement and fidelity for a subsystem of two separate spin-$1∕2$ qubits prepared in Bell states is investigated. One of the subsystem qubit labeled $A$ is under the influence of a Heisenberg $XY$ spin bath, while another one labeled $B$ is uncoupled with that. We discuss two cases: (i) the number of bath spins is infinite, $N\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\infty}$, and (ii) $N$ is finite, $N=40$. In both cases, the bath is initially prepared in a thermal equilibrium state. It is shown that the time dependence of the concurrence and the fidelity of the two subsystem qubits can be controlled by tuning the parameters of the spin bath, such as the anisotropic parameter, the temperature, and the coupling strength with qubit $A$. It is interesting to find that the dynamics of the concurrence is independent of four different initial Bell states and that of the fidelity is divided into two groups.

Entanglement dynamics of two independent qubits in environments with and without memory

Bruno Bellomo, Rosario Lo Franco, Giuseppe Compagno

Here is analyzed the dynamics of two-qubit entanglement, when the two qubits are initially in a mixed extended Werner-like state and each of them is in a zero temperature non-Markovian environment. The dependence of entanglement dynamics on the purity and degree of entanglement of the initial states and on the amount of non-Markovianity is also given. This extends the previous work about non-Markovian effects on the two-qubit entanglement dynamics for initial Bell-like states [Bellomo et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 99, 160502 (2007)]. The effect on the two-qubit entanglement dynamics of nonzero temperature in Markovian environments is finally studied.

Non-Markovian disentanglement dynamics of a two-qubit system

Xiufeng Cao, Hang Zheng

We investigate the disentanglement dynamics of a two-qubit system in the non-Markovian approach. It is shown that only for weak coupling between the system and environment does an exponential decay of entanglement appear, for certain classes of two-qubit entangled states. When the coupling between qubit and the environment becomes stronger, entanglement sudden death always appears even if the dissipation environment is at zero temperature.

Disentanglement Dynamics in Nonequilibrium Environments

Mingli Chen, Haonan Chen, Tao Han +1 more

We theoretically study the non-Markovian disentanglement dynamics of a two-qubit system coupled to nonequilibrium environments with nonstationary and non-Markovian random telegraph noise statistical properties. The reduced density matrix of the two-qubit system can be expressed as the Kraus representation in terms of the tensor products of the single qubit Kraus operators. We derive the relation between the entanglement and nonlocality of the two-qubit system which are both closely associated with the decoherence function. We identify the threshold values of the decoherence function to ensure the existences of the concurrence and nonlocal quantum correlations for an arbitrary evolution time when the two-qubit system is initially prepared in the composite Bell states and the Werner states, respectively. It is shown that the environmental nonequilibrium feature can suppress the disentanglement dynamics and reduce the entanglement revivals in non-Markovian dynamics regime. In addition, the environmental nonequilibrium feature can enhance the nonlocality of the two-qubit system. Moreover, the entanglement sudden death and rebirth phenomena and the transition between quantum and classical nonlocalities closely depend on the parameters of the initial states and the environmental parameters in nonequilibrium environments.
