BETHE ANSATZ FOR NON-COMPACT GROUPS: THE PAIRING MODELS FOR BOSONS

Abstract

We discuss the construction of the exactly solvable pairing models for bosons in the framework of the Quantum Inverse Scattering method. It is stressed that this class of models naturally appears in the quasiclassical limit of the algebraic Bethe ansatz transfer matrix. We propose the new pairing Hamiltonians for bosons, depending on the additional parameters. It is pointed out that the new class of the pairing models can be obtained from the fundamental transfer-matrix. The possible new application of the pairing models for confined bosons in the physics of helium nanodroplets is pointed out.

Bethe ansatz solvable multi-chain quantum systems

Andrei A. Zvyagin

In this article we review recent developments in the one-dimensional Bethe ansatz solvable multi-chain quantum models. The algebraic version of the Bethe ansatz (the quantum inverse scattering method) permits us to construct new families of integrable Hamiltonians using simple generalizations of the well known constructions of the single-chain model. First we consider the easiest example (`basic' model) of this class of models: the antiferromagnetic two-chain spin-1/2 model with the nearest-neighbour and next-nearest-neighbour spin-frustrating interactions (zigzag chain). We show how the algebra of the quantum inverse scattering method works for this model, and what are the important features of the Hamiltonian (which reveal the topological properties of two dimensions together with the one-dimensional properties). We consider the solution of the Bethe ansatz for the ground state (in particular, commensurate-incommensurate quantum phase transitions present due to competing spin-frustrating interactions are discussed) and construct the thermal Bethe ansatz (in the form of the `quantum transfer matrix') for this model. Then possible generalizations of the basic model are considered: an inclusion of a magnetic anisotropy, higher-spin representations (including the important case of a quantum ferrimagnet), the multi-chain case, internal degrees of freedom of particles at each site, etc. We observe the similarities and differences between this class of models and related exactly solvable models: other groups of multi-chain lattice models, quantum field theory models and magnetic impurity (Kondo-like) models. Finally, the behaviour of non-integrable (less constrained) multi-chain quantum models is discussed.

A variational approach for the quantum inverse scattering method

A Birrell, Phillip S. Isaac, Jon Links

We introduce a variational approach for the quantum inverse scattering method to exactly solve a class of Hamiltonians via Bethe ansatz methods. We undertake this in a manner which does not rely on any prior knowledge of integrability through the existence of a set of conserved operators. The procedure is conducted in the framework of Hamiltonians describing the crossover between the low-temperature phenomena of superconductivity, in the Bardeen–Cooper–Schrieffer theory, and Bose–Einstein condensation. The Hamiltonians considered describe systems with interacting Cooper pairs and a bosonic degree of freedom. We obtain general exact solvability requirements which include seven subcases that have previously appeared in the literature.

New Fundamental Symmetries of Integrable Systems and Partial Bethe Ansatz

A. G. Ushveridze

We introduce a new concept of quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras. The quantum quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras being simple but non-trivial deformations of ordinary algebras of monodromy matrices realize a new type of quantum dynamical symmetries and find an unexpected and remarkable applications in quantum inverse scattering method (QISM). We show that applying to quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras the standard procedure of QISM one obtains new wide classes of quantum models which, being integrable (i.e. having enough number of commuting integrals of motion) are only quasi-exactly solvable (i.e. admit an algebraic Bethe ansatz solution for arbitrarily large but limited parts of the spectrum). These quasi-exactly solvable models naturally arise as deformations of known exactly solvable ones. A general theory of such deformations is proposed. The correspondence ``Yangian --- quasi-Yangian'' and ``$XXX$ spin models --- quasi-$XXX$ spin models'' is discussed in detail. We also construct the classical conterparts of quasi-Yang-Baxter algebras and show that they naturally lead to new classes of classical integrable models. We conjecture that these models are quasi-exactly solvable in the sense of classical inverse scattering method, i.e. admit only partial construction of action-angle variables.

Quantum integrable multi-well tunneling models

L H Ymai, Arlei Prestes Tonel, Angela Foerster +1 more

Abstract In this work we present a general construction of integrable models describing boson tunneling in multi-well systems. We show how the models may be derived through the quantum inverse scattering method and solved by algebraic Bethe ansatz means. From the transfer matrix we find only two conserved operators. However, we construct additional conserved operators through an alternative approach. As a consequence the models admit multiple pseudovacua, each associated with a set of Bethe ansatz equations (BAEs). We show that all sets of BAEs are needed to obtain a complete set of eigenstates.

A New Solution of the Supersymmetric TJ Model by Means of the Quantum Inverse Scattering Method

Fabian H. L. Eßler, V. E. Korepin

We construct the enveloping fundamental spin model of the t-J hamiltonian using the Quantum Inverse Scattering Method (QISM), and present all three possible Algebraic Bethe Ansätze. Two of the solutions have been previously obtained in the framework of Coordinate Space Bethe Ansatz by Sutherland and by Schlottmann and Lai, whereas the third solution is new. The formulation of the model in terms of the QISM enables us to derive explicit expressions for higher conservation laws.

Quantum Inverse Scattering Method for an Integrable Model

Zhao Hongwei, Liu Wuming, Fu‐Cho Pu

The exact eigenstates of the Hamiltonian for a quantum three-wave interaction system with boson-fermion operators are constructed by the quantum inverse scattering method. The Bethe-ansatz equations are obtained from the periodic boundary conditions.
