Abstract

We systematically study the spin 1/2 quantum XXZ model on the square lattice using a quantum Monte Carlo method. The temperature dependence of the energy, specific heat and order parameter is calculated for the systems of sizes up to 16×16. Investigating the size dependence carefully, we exarnine the ground-state energy and the existence of the long-range order.

MONTE CARLO STUDY OF QUANTUM SPIN SYSTEMS ON THE SQUARE LATTICE

Yutaka Okabe, Macoto Kikuchi

The quantum XXZ model of spin 1/2 on the square lattice is numerically investigated. We use both the conventional quantum Monte Carlo method and the projector Monte Carlo method. The ground-state energy and the existence of the long-range order are examined.

Exact Diagonalization Study of the Spin 1/2XXZModel on the 4×4 Square Lattice

Macoto Kikuchi, Yutaka Okabe

We study the thermodynamic properties of the spin 1/2 quantum XXZ model with the XY -like anisotropy on the 4×4 square lattice by diagonalizing the Hamiltonian numerically. The temperature dependence of the energy, the specific heat and the uniform susceptibility are reported. The staggered and the in-plane magnetizations at the ground state are also calculated.

Two-dimensionalXXZmodel on a square lattice: A Monte Carlo simulation

Alessandro Cuccoli, V. Tognetti, Ruggero Vaia

Results of Monte Carlo simulations of the ferromagnetic classical XXZ model on a square lattice are reported for interactions of the out of plane spin components \ensuremath{\lambda} varying between 0 and 0.99. For all the value of \ensuremath{\lambda} the signature of a Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) phase transition was observed, and the corresponding critical temperature was located both by BKT fits and finite-size scaling methods. Data for in-plane and out of plane susceptibility, correlation length, specific heat, and internal energy are given in a broad range of temperature and for lattice sizes ranging from 32\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}32 to 256\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}256.

Quantitative description of long-range order in the spin − 1 2 XXZ antiferromagnet on the square lattice

Nils Caci, Dag-Björn Hering, Matthias R. Walther +3 more

The quantitative description of long-range order remains a challenge in quantum many-body physics. We provide zero-temperature results from two complementary methods for the ground-state energy per site, the sublattice magnetization, the spin gap, and the transverse spin correlation length for the spin-1/2 quantum XXZ antiferromagnet on the square lattice. On the one hand, we use exact, large-scale quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) simulations. On the other hand, we use the semianalytic approach based on continuous similarity transformations in terms of elementary magnon excitations. Our findings confirm the applicability and quantitative validity of both approaches along the full parameter axis from the Ising point to the symmetry-restoring phase transition at the Heisenberg point and further provide quantitative reference results in the thermodynamic limit. In addition, we analytically derive the relation between the dispersion and the correlation length at zero temperature in arbitrary dimension, and discuss improved second-moment QMC estimators.

Quantum Monte Carlo simulation of tow-dimensional antiferromagnetic Heisenberg model

Jinbin Li

The Antiferromagnetic Heisenberg Model with spin 1/2 on a square lattice was simulated by using the Stochastic Series Expansion(SSE) Quantum Monte Carlo Method. The temperature dependence of the internal energy, specific heat and uniform susceptibility was observed. The results showed that specific heat has a maximum at kT/J=0.6 and uniform susceptibility saturates at kT/J=1 for the isotropy case. And the size of lattice also affects the temperature dependence of these thermodynamic quantities. For the anisotropy case, energy decreases with anisotropic parameter g increasing.Susceptibility changes slowly with temperature for g1 and exponentially decay for g1 in the low temperature region and its behaviors approach consistent for different g in the high temperature region.

Spin-1XXZmodel on the square lattice

H. Q. Lin, Victor J. Emery

We compute the ground-state energy and spin-spin correlations on various finite square lattices exactly for the spin-1 XXZ model. Estimates of the ground-state energy and order parameters are obtained by extrapolation to infinite lattice. Our results are consistent with the existence of long-range order for all values of anisotropy \ensuremath{\Delta}. .AE
