Abstract

This paper firstly provides the extended Canetti-Krawzcyk (eCK) security model for predicate-based authenticated key exchange (AKE) that guarantees resistance to leakage of ephemeral secret keys. Moreover, we propose two-pass key-policy (resp. session-policy) attribute-based AKE protocol secure in the proposed predicate-based eCK security model based on key-policy (resp. ciphertext-policy) attribute-based encryption. The proposed protocols have advantages in security against leakage of ephemeral secret keys and the round complexity compared to the previous predicate-based AKE protocols.

Atsushi Fujioka, Koutarou Suzuki, Kazuki Yoneyama

In this paper, the first extended Canetti-Krawzcyk (eCK) security model for hierarchical ID-based authenticated key exchange (AKE) that guarantee resistance to leakage of ephemeral secret keys is proposed. Moreover, an two-pass hierarchical ID-based AKE protocol secure in the proposed hierarchical ID-based eCK security model based on a hierarchical ID-based encryption is also proposed.

Analysis of Two Provably Secure Authenticated Key Exchange Protocols in the eCK Model

Xuexian Hu

The extended Canetti-Krawczyk(eCK) model proposed by LaMacchia et al.is currently regarded as the strongest security model for authenticated key exchange(AKE) protocols. In the eCK model, the adversary can make queries on the test session, and reveal both ephemeral private keys, both long-term keys,or one of each from the two different parties. In this paper,we analyze two AKE protocols designed in the eCK model based on the definition of eCK model. We propose ephemeral keys compromised attacks and long-term keys compromised attacks on one of them, and also propose ephemeral keys compromised attacks on the other one.The results of analysis show that both of them are insecure in the eCK model.

Efficient eCK-secure Authenticated Key Exchange Protocols in the Standard Model.

Zheng Yang

The extended Canetti–Krawczyk (eCK) security models, are widely used to provide security arguments for authenticated key exchange protocols that capture leakage of various kinds of secret information like the long-term private key and session-specific secret state. In this paper, we study the open problem on constructing eCK secure AKE protocol without random oracles and NAXOS like trick. A generic construction GC-KKN satisfying those requirements is first given relying on standard cryptographic primitives following the guideline of efficiency. On the second a concrete protocol is proposed which is the first eCK secure protocol in the standard model under both standard assumptions and post-specified peer setting. Both proposed schemes can be more efficiently implemented with secure device than previous eCK secure protocols in the standard model, where the secure device might be normally used to store the long-term private key and implement algorithms of protocol which require to be resilience of state leakage.

Attribute-based Authenticated Key Exchange.

M. Choudary Gorantla, Colin Boyd, Juan Manuel González Nieto

Abstract. We introduce the concept of attribute-based authenticated key exchange (AB-AKE) within the framework of ciphertext policy attribute-based systems. A notion of AKE-security for AB-AKE is presented based on the security models for group key exchange protocols and also taking into account the security requirements generally considered in the ciphertext policy attribute-based setting. We also extend the paradigm of hybrid encryption to the ciphertext policy attribute-based encryption schemes. A new primitive called encapsulation policy attribute-based key encapsulation mechanism (EP-AB-KEM) is introduced and a notion of chosen ciphertext security is defined for EP-AB-KEMs. We propose an EP-AB-KEM from an existing attribute-based encryption scheme and show that it achieves chosen ciphertext security in the generic group and random oracle models. We present a generic one-round AB-AKE protocol that satisfies our AKE-security notion. The protocol is generically constructed from any EP-AB-KEM that satisfies chosen ciphertext security. Instantiating the generic AB-AKE protocol with our EP-AB-KEM will result in a concrete one-round AB-AKE protocol also secure in the generic group and random oracle models.

A New Efficient and Strongly Secure Authenticated Key Exchange Protocol

Qingfeng Cheng, Guangguo Han, Chuangui Ma

In 2007, LaMacchia et al.proposed the extended Canetti-Krawczyk (eCK) model for authenticated key exchange (AKE) protocols. In this paper, we first modify the eCK model by adding a new query to make the adversary can reveal all ephemeral secret information. Then we propose a new efficient and strongly secure AKE protocol in the asymmetric setting, called E-NETS (enhanced NETS) protocol, and prove its security in the modified eCK (meCK) model under the random oracle assumption and the gap Diffie-Hellman assumption.

Leakage resilient eCK-secure key exchange protocol without random oracles

Daisuke Moriyama, Tatsuaki Okamoto

This paper presents the first formalization of partial key leakage security of a two-pass two-party authenticated key exchange (AKE) protocol on the extended Canetti-Krawczyk (eCK) security model. Our formalization, λ-leakage resilient eCK security, is a (stronger) generalization of the eCK security model with enhanced by the notion of λ-leakage resilient security recently introduced by Akavia, Goldwasser and Vaikuntanathan. We present a PKI-based two-pass key exchange protocol with Hash Proof System (HPS), that is λ-leakage resilient eCK secure without random oracles.
