Abstract

We report our progress on quantum information processing on an ultra-compact silicon photonic crystal platform. We achieved correlated photon-pair generation with a coincidence to accidental ratio as high as 130 in a 196 µm-long waveguide.

Elementary components required for photonic quantum information processing are realised in a silicon-on-insulator platform. On-chip quantum interference, manipulation of entangled states and photon-pair generation in a ring resonator with record high coincidental-to-accidental rates are demonstrated.

We demonstrate degenerate correlated photon-pair generation in a 96 μm long silicon photonic crystal waveguide via slow-light enhanced spontaneous four-wave mixing. This provides an ultra-compact platform for generating indistinguishable photons for future quantum technologies.
