Abstract

Measurements were made of the shape and duration of superradiance pulses corresponding to the neon lines λ = 6143 and 5400 A. The time resolution in the measurements was 0.5 nsec. The shape and duration of the superradiance pulses depended considerably on the experimental conditions. The duration of these pulses at half-maximum ranged from several nanoseconds to 0.5 nsec.

OPTICAL EXTENSION OF DICKE'S SUPERRADIANCE: A CASE STUDY OF THALLIUM IN THALLIUM MERCURY SYSTEM

Shubhada Adhi

A detailed study of superradiance at the Thallium green line (λ=535.0 nm ) in Thallium–Mercury (Tl–Hg) system is reported. High peak power of 1 kW delivered in short pulse duration of 4 nsec (FWHM) has been obtained. Attempts have also been made experimentally to determine the various time constants viz. inhomogeneous dephasing time, decay time, characteristic time, delay time etc. along with their inequality relations for the Tl–Hg system. The experimental results of superradiance in Tl are compared with those predicted theoretically by M. S. Feld et al.2

Superradiance of two-component quasiresonant media

Anatolii V Andreev, P. V. Polevoy

An investigation is made of the dynamics of the superradiance of two-component quasiresonant media with similar frequencies of superradiant transitions. It is shown that variation of the detuning of the frequencies of the components can increase the peak intensity of a superradiance pulse and simultaneously reduce its temporal width. The range of the detuning of the frequencies of the components ensuring generation of the strongest and shortest superradiance pulse is determined. It is demonstrated that superradiance pulses emitted by two-component quasiresonant media may be delayed by a considerable time, which is significantly longer than the temporal width of the superradiance pulse itself.

Injection Laser Threshold from the Standpoint of Collective Resonance

Nikita Yu. Gordeev, Leonid Ya. Karachinsky, V. I. Kopchatov +2 more

Mechanism of laser threshold is considered in terms of superradiance. Presence of short Coherent pulses has been demonstrated below at and above laser threshold in wide temperatwe range. Existence of positive feedback leads to SR pulse becomes longer. Luminescence lineshape above threshold has a complex structure but is well described using the theory of collective recombination. Spectral investigations at low and room temperatwe. as well as time coherence measurements at RT allow estimating the characteiistic time of superradiance pulse in these two modes. The maximum duration of the pulse has been found as low as 300 fs at RT and 70 fs at 77 K.
