Multipartitle EPR states

Abstract

The Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) wavefunction is a two-particle wavefunction that is a simultaneous eigenfunction of the relative coordinate and the centre-of-mass momentum. The Fock space representation of this function is easily obtained as a direct product of an eigenfunction of the relative coordinate and an eigenfunction of the centre-of-mass momentum. Straightforward generalization to an arbitrary number of particles is shown to be feasible, and a classification of multiparticle entangled states is outlined. The relation between entanglement and inseparability is pointed out, and the status of the EPR states within the much broader family of entangled states is emphasized.

Multi-mode Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen Entangled State Representation and Its Applications

Heng-Mei Li, Yuan Hong-Chun

Our primary purpose of this work is to explicitly construct the general multipartite Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) entangled state in multi-mode Fock space for a system with different masses of particles, which makes up a new quantum mechanical representation owing to completeness relation and orthogonal property. Its entanglement can be seen more clearly by analyzing its standard Schmidt decomposition. In addition, some applications of the multipartite entanglement are proposed including deriving the generalized Wigner operator and squeezing operator.

EPR Entangled States for Bipartite Kinematics and New Bosonic Representation of SU(2) Algebra

Fan Hong-Yi, Chen Jun-Hua

We find that the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) entangled state representation describing bipartite kinematics is closely related to a new Bose operator realization of SU(2) Lie algebra. By virtue of the new realization some Hamiltonian eigenfunction equation can be directly converted to the generalized confluent equation in the EPR entangled state representation and its solution is obtainable. This thus provides a new approach for studying dynamics of angular momentum systems.

Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen entanglement for self-interacting complex scalar fields

Hong-Yi Fan, Zeng‐Bing Chen

We demonstrate the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) correlations in the Gaussian trial wavefunctional widely used in the Schrödinger representation of the self-interacting complex scalar fields (CSF). This demonstration is based on the explicit eigenstates ||ξ⟩, which possess the precise EPR entanglement and constitute a complete and orthonormal representation, of CSF ϕ and ϕ † in the Fock space. To show the entanglement of the Gaussian trial wavefunctional, we evaluate in the ⟨ξ||-representation its `entangled' Wigner functional resembling the Wigner function of the two-mode squeezed vacuum state, whose quantum entanglement is well known.

ENTANGLEMENT SWAPPING FOR TWO PAIRS OF EPR EIGENSTATES GENERATED VIA BELL MEASUREMENT

Hong-Yi Fan

We demonstrate that a common eigenvector |η> (Einstein, Podolsky and Rosen, EPR states) of two particles' relatively coordinate and total momentum possesses a property that the projection (a Bell measurement) of two pairs of EPR states |η>1,2⊗| η'>3,4 onto the subspace spanned by 1,4<η″|, yields a EPR state |η″-η*-η′* >2,3 for particles 2 and 3. Entanglement swapping operator is also derived by virtue of the technique of integration within an ordered product of operators.

EINSTEIN–PODOLSKY–ROSEN ENTANGLED STATE REPRESENTATION FOR ANGULAR-MOMENTUM AND RADIUS ENTANGLEMENT

Hong-Yi Fan, Junhua Chen

By comparison with the Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen coordinate-momentum entangled state, which is the common eigenvector of two particles' relative coordinate and total momentum, we construct a new quantum mechanical entangled state representation, namely, the entangled state representation of angular-momentum and radius. A concrete physical system which can embody the new quantum entanglement is analyzed.

Higher-order quantum entanglement

Anton Zeilinger, Michael Horne, Daniel M. Greenberger

In quantum mechanics, the general state describing two or more particles is a linear superposition of product states. Such a superposition is called entangled if it cannot be factored into just one product. When only two particles are entangled, the stage is set for Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen (EPR) discussions and Bell's proof that the EPR viewpoint contradicts quantum mechanics. If more than two particles are involved, new possibilities and phenomena arise. For example, the Greenberger, Horne, and Zeilinger (GHZ) disproof of EPR applies. Furthermore, as we point out, with three or more particles even entanglement itself can be an entangled property.
