Abstract

RG functions are calculated up to 4-loop order in 3 and 2 dimensions to evaluate, within Chisholm-Borel resummation technique, critical exponents for cubic and impure uniaxial crystals and the order parameter critical dimensionality nc . For 3D impure Ising crystals γ = 1.326, v = 0.670, α = -0.011, β = 0.342, η = 0.034, while critical exponents of 3D cubic crystals practically coincide with those of the Heisenberg model; nc = 2.9. For 2D systems the fermion representation enables us to find that their critical behavior is identical to that of pure Ising model, apart some logarithmic factors.

Five-loop renormalization-group expansions for the three-dimensionaln-vector cubic model and critical exponents for impure Ising systems

D. V. Pakhnin, Aleksandr Ivanovich Sokolov

The renormalization-group (RG) functions for the three-dimensional n-vector cubic model are calculated in the five-loop approximation. High-precision numerical estimates for the asymptotic critical exponents of the three-dimensional impure Ising systems are extracted from the five-loop RG series by means of the Pad\'e-Borel-Leroy resummation under $n=0.$ These exponents are found to be $\ensuremath{\gamma}=1.325\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.003,$ $\ensuremath{\eta}=0.025\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.01,$ $\ensuremath{\nu}=0.671\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.005,$ $\ensuremath{\alpha}=\ensuremath{-}0.0125\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.008,$ and $\ensuremath{\beta}=0.344\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.006.$ For the correction-to-scaling exponent, the less accurate estimate $\ensuremath{\omega}=0.32\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.06$ is obtained.

Critical exponents for a three-dimensional impure Ising model in the five-loop approximation

D. V. Pakhnin, Aleksandr Ivanovich Sokolov

The renormalization-group functions governing the critical behavior of the three-dimensional weakly-disordered Ising model are calculated in the five-loop approximation. The random fixed point location and critical exponents for impure Ising systems are estimated by means of the Padé-Borel-Leroy resummation of the renormalization-group expansions derived. The asymptotic critical exponents are found to be γ=1.325 ± 0.003, η=0.025 ± 0.01, ν= 0.671 ± 0.005, α=−0.0125 ± 0.008, β=0.344 ± 0.006, while for the correction-to-scaling exponent, a less accurate estimate ω=0.32 ± 0.06 is obtained.

Stability of a cubic fixed point in three dimensions: Critical exponents for genericN

K. B. Varnashev

The detailed analysis of the global structure of the renormalization-group (RG) flow diagram for a model with isotropic and cubic interactions is carried out in the framework of the massive field theory directly in three dimensions (3D) within an assumption of isotropic exchange. Perturbative expansions for RG functions are calculated for arbitrary N up to four-loop order and resummed by means of the generalized Pad\'e-Borel-Leroy technique. Coordinates and stability matrix eigenvalues for the cubic fixed point are found under the optimal value of the transformation parameter. Critical dimensionality of the model is proved to be equal to ${N}_{c}=2.89\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.02$ that agrees well with the estimate obtained on the basis of the five-loop $\ensuremath{\varepsilon}$ expansion [H. Kleinert and V. Schulte-Frohlinde, Phys. Lett. B 342, 284 (1995)] resummed by the above method. As a consequence, the cubic fixed point should be stable in 3D for $N>~3,$ and the critical exponents controlling phase transitions in three-dimensional magnets should belong to the cubic universality class. The critical behavior of the random Ising model being the nontrivial particular case of the cubic model when $N=0$ is also investigated. For all physical quantities of interest the most accurate numerical estimates with their error bounds are obtained. The results achieved in the work are discussed along with the predictions given by other theoretical approaches and experimental data.

Critical Exponents for the Model with Unique Stable Fixed Point From Three-Loop RG Expansions

Aleksandr Ivanovich Sokolov, K. B. Varnashev, Andrey Mudrov

The critical behavior of a model describing phase transitions in cubic and tetragonal anti-ferromagnets with 2N-component (N>1) real order parameters as well as the structural transition in NbO 2 crystal is studied within the field-theoretical renormalization-group (RG) approach in three and (4-∊)-dimensions. Perturbative expansions for RG functions are calculated up to three-loop order and resummed, in 3D, by means of the generalized Padé–Borel procedure which is shown to preserve the specific symmetry properties of the model. It is found that a stable fixed point does exist in the three-dimensional RG flow diagram for N>1, in accordance with predictions obtained earlier within the ∊-expansion. Fixed-point coordinates and critical-exponent values are presented for physically interesting cases N=2 and N=3. In both cases critical exponents are found to be numerically close to those of the 3DXY model. The analysis of the results given by the ∊-expansion and by the RG approach in three dimensions is performed resulting in a conclusion that the latter provides much more accurate numerical estimates.

Critical thermodynamics of three-dimensional MN-component field model with cubic anisotropy from higher-loop RG expansions

Andrey Mudrov, K. B. Varnashev

The critical behavior of an MN-component order parameter Ginzburg-Landau model with isotropic and cubic interactions describing antiferromagnetic and structural phase transitions in certain crystals with complicated ordering is studied in the framework of the four-loop renormalization group (RG) approach in $(4-2\ve)$-dimensions. Using dimensional regularization and the minimal subtraction scheme, the perturbative expansions for RG functions are deduced for generic M and N and resummed by the Borel transformation combined with a conformal mapping. Investigation of the global structure of RG flows for the physically significant cases M=2 and N=2, N=3 shows that the model has a three-dimensionally stable fixed point different from the Bose one. The critical dimensionality is proved to be exactly two times smaller than its counterpart in the real cubic model: N_c^C ={1/2} N_c^R. The numerical value $N_c^C=1.447 \pm 0.020$ is obtained from resumming the known five-loop $\ve$-series for N_c^R. Since N_c^C < 2, the critical thermodynamics of the model relevant to the phase transitions in real substances should be governed by the complex cubic fixed point with a new set of critical exponents: $\gm=1.404(25)$, $ν=0.715(10)$, $\et=0.0343(20)$ for N=2 and $\gm=1.390(25)$, $ν=0.702(10)$, $\et=0.0345(15)$ for N=3.

Monte Carlo test of critical exponents in 3D Heisenberg and Ising models

J. Kaupužs

We have tested the theoretical values of critical exponents, predicted for the three--dimensional Heisenberg model, based on the published Monte Carlo (MC) simulation data for the susceptibility. Two different sets of the critical exponents have been considered - one provided by the usual (perturbative) renormalization group (RG) theory, and another predicted by grouping of Feynman diagrams in phi^4 model (our theory). The test consists of two steps. First we determine the critical coupling by fitting the MC data to the theoretical expression, including both confluent and analytical corrections to scaling, the values of critical exponents being taken from theory. Then we use the obtained value of critical coupling to test the agreement between theory and MC data at criticality. As a result, we have found that predictions of our theory (gamma=19/14, eta=1/10, omega=3/5) are consistent, whereas those of the perturbative RG theory (gamma=1.3895, eta=0.0355, omega=0.782) are inconsistent with the MC data. The seemable agreement between the RG prediction for eta and MC results at criticality, reported in literature, appears due to slightly overestimated value of the critical coupling. Estimation of critical exponents of 3D Ising model from complex zeroth of the partition function is discussed. A refined analysis yields the best estimate 1/nu=1.518. We conclude that the recent MC data can be completely explained within our theory (providing 1/nu=1.5 and omega=0.5) rather than within the conventional RG theory.
