Abstract

We report a four-photon resonant nondegenerate eight-wave mixing (NEWM) in a dresses N-type six-level system. It has advantages that phase match condition is not stringent and NEWM signal is enhanced tremendously due to the multiple resonance with the atomic transition frequencies. In the prenence of a strong coupling field, the four-photon resonant NEWM spectrum exhibits Autler-Townes splitting. Compared to two-photon resonant nondegenerate four-wave mixing and three-photon resonant nondegenerate six-wave mixing in dressed atoms, four-photon resonant NEWM spectrum is more complicated and can provides information about the relaxation of higher-order atomic coherence.

Three-Photon Resonant Nondegenerate Six-Wave Mixing in a Dressed Atomic System

We report a three-photon resonant nondegenerate six-wave mixing (NSWM) in a dressed cascade five-level system. It has advantages that phase match condition is not stringent and NSWM signal is enhanced tremendously due to the multiple resonance with the atomic transition frequencies. In the presence of a strong coupling Held, the three-photon resonant NSWM spectrum exhibits Autler-Townes splitting. This technique provides a spectroscopic tool for measuring not only the resonant frequency and dephasing rate but also the transition dipole moment between two highly excited atomic states.

Two-photon resonant four-wave mixing in a dressed atomic system

Sun Jiang, Zhanchun Zuo, Xin Mi +5 more

We study two-photon resonant nondegenerate four-wave mixing (NFWM) in a dressed cascade four-level system. In the presence of a strong coupling field, the two-photon resonant NFWM spectrum exhibits Autler-Townes splitting, accompanied by either suppression or enhancement of the NFWM signal. Such phenomena are demonstrated in Ba through inducing of atomic coherence between the ground state $6{s}^{2}$ and the doubly excited autoionizing Rydberg state $6pnd$. This technique provides a spectroscopic tool for measuring not only the resonant frequency and dephasing rate but also the transition dipole moment between two highly excited atomic states.

Two-photon resonant nondegenerate four-wave mixing via quantum interference

孙江 Sun Jiang, Zuo Zhan-Chun, Xin Mi +4 more

We study the quantum interference in two-photon resonant nondegenerate four-wave mixing (NFWM) in a dressed cascade four-level system in which the two upper levels are coupled by a strong laser field. We find that in the presence of a strong coupling field, two-photon resonant NFWM spectrum exhibits Autler-Townes splitting, which reflects the levels of the dressed states. It also leads to either suppression or enhancement of the NFWM signal. This scheme involves the resonant three-photon excitation, therefore, provides a new spectroscopic tool for studying highly excited atomic states with high sensitivity.

The three-photon resonant nondegenerate six-wave mixing via quantum interference in the middle level

孙江 Sun Jiang, Sun Juan, Ying Wang +2 more

We study the quantum interference in three-photon resonant nondegenerate six-wave mixing (NSWM) of a five-level system in which the middle level of six-wave mixing and other levels are coupled by a strong laser field. The coupling field-dependence of the NSWM signal intensity, and the spectrum of the NSWM with a coupling field, are discussed. We find that in the presence of a strong coupling field, the three-photon resonant NSWM spectrum exhibits Autler-Townes splitting, which reflects the levels of the dressed states. It also leads to either suppression or enhancement of the NSWM signal. Due to the enhancement of NSWM signal caused by quantum interference, the dressed state created by a coupling field can replace the atom intrinsic level and serve as the middle level of three-photon resonance. Thus the middle level of three-photon resonance can be controlled by a coupling field.

Dressed multi-wave mixing in a V-type four-level atomic system

Tong Jiang, Zhang Yan-Peng, Nie Zhi-Qiang +8 more

The dressed four- and six-wave mixings in a V-type four-level system are considered. Under two different dressed conditions, two- and three-photon resonant Autler–Townes splittings, accompanied by enhancement and suppression of wave mixing signal, are obtained analytically. Meanwhile, an electromagnetic induced transparency of multi-wave mixing is presented, which shows multiple peaks and asymmetric effects caused by one-photon, two-photon and three-photon resonances, separately. The slow light propagation multiple region of multi-wave mixing signal is also obtained.
