Relativistic quantum optics: The relativistic invariance of the light-matter interaction models

Eduardo Martín-Martínez, Pablo Rodriguez-López

In this article we discuss the invariance under general changes of reference frame of all the physical predictions of particle detector models in quantum field theory in general and, in particular, of those used in quantum optics to model atoms interacting with light. We find explicitly how the light-matter interaction Hamiltonians change under general coordinate transformations, and analyze the subtleties of the Hamiltonians commonly used to describe the light-matter interaction when relativistic motion is taken into account.

Isotropic Forms of Dynamics in the Relativistic Direct Interaction Theory

Askold Duviryak, Volodymyr Shpytko, V. I. Tretyak

The Lagrangian relativistic direct interaction theory in the various forms of dynamics is formulated and its connections with the Fokker-type action theory and with the constrained Hamiltonian mechanics are established. The motion of classical two-particle system with relativistic direct interaction is analysed within the framework of isotropic forms of dynamics in the two- and four-dimensional space-time. Some relativistic exactly solvable quantum-mechanical models are also discussed.

A Hamiltonian for Relativistic Interacting Many Particles

Jose A. Magpantay

There is no relativistic Hamiltonian for many particles systems except for free particles and this has been accepted since the 1960s from the work of Currie, Jordan and Sudarshan, Cannon and Jordan, and Leutwyler. This is the problem we will address in this paper by coupling relativistic particles with a scalar field. The Hamiltonian we derive is explicitly relativistic and in the non-relativistic limit gives a Hamiltonian with two body interaction. However, we find that the Poincare algebra is still not satisfied because of the inherent time delayed interaction in relativistic particle systems.
