Controlling the One-Dimensional Photonic Crystal Bandgap Structures Via Manipulation of Electromagnetically Induced Transparency Atomic Vapor

Using the Transfer matrix method to reserch the one-dimensional photonic crystal bandgap structure which is made of electromagnetically induced transparency atomic vapor. The results show that the photonic crystal bandgap can be manipulated by varying the refractive index of electromagnetically induced transparency atomic vapor. The EIT atomic vapor relative refractive index gradually increasing with the Rabi frequency. With the Rabi frequency gradually increasing, the band gap of the photonic crystal becomes more and more narrow, but the change is becoming slower.

Effect of electromagnetically induced transparency on spectrum of defect modes of photonic crystal

Vasily G. Arkhipkin, S. A. Myslivets, Ivan V. Timofeev

The effect of electromagnetically induced transparency on the spectrum of defect modes of one-dimensional photonic crystal is discussed theoretically. Narrowing of defect mode linewidth is predicted due to nonabsorbing highly dispersive medium in defect layer.

Electromagnetically Induced Transparency and slow light in media with Rydberg Excitons

Sylwia Zielińska‐Raczyńska, David Ziemkiewicz, G. Czajkowski

We show that the Electromagnetically Induced Transparency (EIT) is possible in a medium exhibiting Rydberg excitons and indicate the realistic parameters to perform the experiment. The calculations for a Cu$_2$O crystal are given which show that in this medium due to large group index one could expect slowing down a light pulse by a factor about $10^4$.
