Effect of Intensity-Dependent Couplings and the atomic dissipation on The Interaction of Two Three-Level Atoms and Two Modes of Radiation Field

Abstract In this article the effect of intensity-dependent coupling and the atomic dissipation on the interaction of a pair of three-level atoms in the Ξ configuration with a bi-mode cavity field are studied. The solution of the proposed model is obtained in the resonance case. Some statistical quantities are discussed to discover the characteristics of the model. With different nonlinearity functions, the population inversion and the photon number dynamics, which display the phenomenon of collapses and revivals are discussed. The non-classical effects by examining the Mandel Q-parameter are considered. The amount of correlation between the two atoms and the field is estimated by analyzing the results of the fidelity.

Dynamics for a two-atom two-mode intensity-dependent Raman coupled model

Sudha Singh, Karuna Gilhare

We study the quantum dynamics of a two-atom Raman coupled model interacting with a quantized bimodal field with intensity-dependent coupling terms in a lossless cavity. The unitary transformation method used to solve the time-dependent problem also gives the eigensolutions of the interaction Hamiltonian. We study the atomic-population dynamics and dynamics of the photon statistics in the two cavity modes, and present evidence of cooperative effects in the production of antibunching and anticorrelations between the modes. We also investigate the effect of detuning on the evolution of second-order correlation functions and observe that the oscillations become more rapid for large detuning.

Quantum states of radiation and their interaction with atomic matter

In this thesis we present a theoretical analysis of some of the implications of the quantum nature of the electromagnetic field. In particular, we are interested in how atomic dynamics are modified by coupling to a quantized radiation field. In chapter two we review the Jaynes-Cummings model of atom-field interactions. This model consists of a single two-level atom coupled to a single mode of the radiation field. The evolution of the atom depends upon the initial quantum state of the field mode.Chapter three is a review of the quantum theory of dissipation. In chapter four we examine the properties of the thermofield states of the two-mode, quantized radiation fields. We investigate the use of these states as a representation of single mode thermal states. The thermo field representation is used to describe interactions involving thermal averages and in an analysis of two-mode squeezing in parametric amplifiers.Chapters five to seven are concerned with the Rydberg atom maser. In chapter five we review some of the properties of Rydberg atoms in cavities and consider the validity of the Jaynes-Cummings model as a description of the maser. In chapter six we discuss the modification of the atomic dynamics when more than one atom is present in the cavity. We show how the collective atomic inversion is influenced by many-atom effects, as well as the photon statistical effects present in the single atom Jaynes-CHAPTER
