Quantum optical implementation of Grover's algorithm

Marlan O. Scully, Muhammad Suhail Zubairy

We present a scheme for a quantum optical implementation of Grover's algorithm based on resonant atomic interactions with classical fields and dispersive couplings with quantized cavity fields. The proposed scheme depends on preparation of entangled states and is within current state-of-the-art technology.

Cavity QED: applications to quantum computation

Han Xiong, Muhammad Suhail Zubairy

Possible schemes to implement the basic quantum gates for quantum computation have been presented based on cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) systems. We then discuss schemes to implement several important quantum algorithms such as the discrete quantum fourier transform (QFT) algorithm and Grover's quantum search algorithm based on these quantum gates. Some other applications of cavity QED based systems including the implementations of a quantum disentanglement eraser and an entanglement amplifier are also discussed.

Cavity QED implementation of the discrete quantum Fourier transform

Marlan O. Scully, Muhammad Suhail Zubairy

We present a scheme for the implementation of the discrete quantum Fourier transform using cavity quantum electrodynamics. In the proposed scheme a series of atoms whose atomic coherence carries the input state passes through a series of cavities and classical field, and the resulting state in the cavities is the quantum Fourier transform of the input state.

1. Grover Search: We introduce the basics of discrete quantum walks, describing some of the underlying physics. One of the most important algorithms in quantum computing is Grover’s search algorithm, we show how one can implement this algorithm using a discrete walk on the arcs of a graph.
