Abstract

We apply Bohm’s quantum potential interpretation to quantum cosmology. We study closed, flat and open minisuperspace models by introducing “extended” Robertson-Walker time which exists not only in classically allowed region but also in classically forbidden region. It is shown that how the classical universe emerges from the quantum area. We also discuss briefly quantum potential interpretation of quantum geometrodynamics based on the Arnowitt-Deser-Misner canonical formalism.

Quintom potentials from quantum cosmology

J. Socorro, Paulo A. Rodríguez

We derive a special of scalar field quintom potential using the isotropic flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker cosmological model from canonical quantum cosmology under determined conditions in the evolution of our universe, using the Bohmian formalism. We obtain a family of potentials corresponding to the most probable to study the inflation phenomenon. Also we present exact solutions to the Wheeler-DeWitt equations in closed form.

Quantum cosmology: how to interpret and obtain results

Nelson Pinto-Neto

We argue that the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics cannot be applied to quantum cosmology. Among the alternative interpretations, we choose to apply the Bohm-de Broglie interpretation of quantum mechanics to canonical quantum cosmology. For minisuperspace models, we show that there is no problem of time in this interpretation, and that quantum effects can avoid the initial singularity, create inflation and isotropize the Universe. For the general case, it is shown that, irrespective of any regularization or choice of factor ordering of the Wheeler-DeWitt equation, the unique relevant quantum effect which does not break spacetime is the change of its signature from lorentzian to euclidean. The other quantum effects are either trivial or break the four-geometry of spacetime. A Bohm-de Broglie picture of a quantum geometrodynamics is constructed, which allows the investigation of these latter structures.

Bohmian quantum cosmology from the Wheeler-DeWitt equation

Spyros Basilakos, Gerasimos Kouniatalis, Emmanuel N. Saridakis +1 more

We construct a Bohmian quantum cosmological model for a spatially flat Friedmann-Robertson-Walker universe filled with a single scalar field whose potential provides a unified description of cold dark matter and dark energy at the background level. Starting from the Einstein-Hilbert action supplemented by a scalar field, we derive the minisuperspace Lagrangian and the associated canonical Hamiltonian formulation. By means of a nontrivial canonical transformation, the minisuperspace dynamics is mapped into that of a two-dimensional hyperbolic oscillator with a fixed frequency ratio, rendering the Wheeler-DeWitt equation exactly solvable by separation of variables. The resulting Wheeler-DeWitt solutions are expressed in terms of parabolic cylinder functions and are parametrised by a continuous separation constant, reflecting the constrained nature of the theory and the absence of a standard Schrödinger time parameter. Adopting the de Broglie-Bohm formulation, we derive deterministic guidance equations in minisuperspace and construct a well-defined Bohmian Hubble parameter directly in terms of the pilot-wave phase. Finally, we present a Wheeler-DeWitt-derived toy wave function for which the Bohmian trajectories and the associated cosmological expansion history can be obtained analytically, reproducing the late-time ΛCDM behaviour while exhibiting quantum modifications at earlier epochs.

Minisuperspace Quantum Cosmology in the Madelung–Bohm Formalism

V.E. Kuzmichev, V. V. Kuzmichev

An analogy between non-relativistic quantum mechanics in the Madelung formulation and quantum geometrodynamics in the case of the maximally symmetric space is drawn. The equations equivalent to the continuity equation and the hydrodynamic Euler equation describing the evolution of the velocity introduced for the case of hypothetical fluid flow characterizing the cosmological system are obtained. It is shown that the perfect nature of the fluid is broken by the quantum Bohm potential. The quantum potential is calculated in the semi-classical approximation for different forces acting in the system both in standard quantum mechanics and in the minisuperspace model of quantum geometrodynamics. The explicit dependences of the cosmic scale factor on the conformal time, which account for the quantum additive, are found for the empty space with spatial curvature and for a spatially flat universe with dust and radiation.

Quantum Potential and Cosmological Singularities

Sang Pyo Kim

We apply the de Broglie-Bohm interpretation to the Wheeler-DeWitt equation for the quantum FRW cosmological model with a minimal massless scalar field. We find that the quantum FRW cosmological model has quantum potential dominated solutions that avoid the initial and the final cosmological singularities. It is suggested that the quantum potential and the back-reaction of geometry and matter fields may change the property of the cosmological singularities of the Universe. 1 E-mail: sangkim@knusun1.kunsan.ac.kr 1 Introduction One of the most prominent classical-mechanical problems that quantum mechanics can solve is the classical singularity. For example, an electron of an atom suffers from the instability that due to the infinitely negative Coulomb potential and the electron in a zero-momentum state should fall into the infinite potential 2 . In quantum mechanics, however, the s-wavefunction (zero orbital angular momentum state) of the electron has zero probability at the singula...

QUANTUM POTENTIAL INTERPRETATION AND A THIRD-QUANTIZED UNIVERSE

TSUTOMU HORIGUCHI

We apply Bohm's quanium potential interpretation to a third-quantized uni verse theory. Using this interpretation, we obtain trajectories of the universe field in a third-quantized de Siuer minisuperspace model.
