Abstract

Transmitting quantum states and entanglement through quantum channels is one of the key requirements for the development of quantum computation. Quantum discord has received much attention in quantum computation. We transfer quantum discord through two parallel XXZ spin chains with phase shift. The maximum discord can be enhanced by the phase shift. It will take more time to obtain an enhanced maximum discord in some cases, but for other cases, both the maximum and speed are enhanced by the phase shift. In the thermodynamic limit, the effect of the phase shift disappears and the maximum discord exponentially decays with increasing of the receiving position. Our results on spin chains are generalized to a family of linear Hamiltonians.

Enhanced entanglement transfer by phase-shift control in two parallel Heisenberg spin chains

Zhao-Ming Wang, Shao Bin, Chang Ping +1 more

We investigate the effect of phase shift on the entanglement transfer in two parallel 1D spin chains. We calculate the concurrence, measures for two-qubit entanglement, as a function of time. We find the maximum achievable entanglement in the cases with and without phase shift. Although the entanglement transfer becomes slow in most cases with phase shift, the significant enhancement of the maximum achievable entanglement is obtained which suggests its potential usefulness in quantum information processing.

Enhancement of entanglement transfer in a spin chain by phase-shift control

Koji Maruyama, Toshiaki Iitaka, Franco Nori

We study the effect of a phase shift on the amount of transferable two-spin entanglement in a spin chain. We consider a ferromagnetic Heisenberg or $XY$ spin chain, both numerically and analytically, and two mechanisms to generate a phase shift, the Aharonov-Casher effect, and the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. In both cases, the maximum attainable entanglement is shown to be significantly enhanced, suggesting its potential usefulness in quantum information processing.

Quantum discord and quantum phase transition in the XXZ spin chain with three-site interaction

Jing Yang, Mei-Yan Cong, Yanxia Huang

Pairwise quantum discord (QD) and entanglement of the three-qubit XXZ Heisenberg spin chain with two types of three-site interactions and an external magnetic field are investigated. Our study found that both entanglement and quantum discord could detect the quantum critical phenomena of this model. We were able to obtain a nonzero value of quantum discord even at high temperature with the increase of XZX[Formula: see text]YZY or XZY[Formula: see text]YZX three-site interaction, however, the cooperative effect of XZX[Formula: see text]YZY and XZY[Formula: see text]YZX interactions is more ideal. Furthermore, in contrast to XZY[Formula: see text]YZX and XZX[Formula: see text]YZY interactions, the cooperative effect of XZX[Formula: see text]YZY and XZY[Formula: see text]YZX three-site interactions is more efficient to enhance the maximum value of quantum discord. Likewise, the cooperative effect of XZX[Formula: see text]YZY and XZY[Formula: see text]YZX interactions is the most optimal to increase the range of magnetic field or anisotropy parameter where quantum discord maintains the maximum value.

Effects of phase shift on bipartite and multipartite correlations of a spin chain under dephasing

Aixi Chen, Jian-Song Zhang

Abstract We investigate the effects of phase shift on entanglement, quantum discord, geometric discord, and spinsqueezing of a Heisenberg chain under dephasing. An analytical solution of the present model is obtained. Our results show that the initial correlations of the spin chain could be partially stored for a long time in the presence of dephasing and the amount of steady state correlations can be adjusted via phase shift. Particularly, we find the effects of phase shift on quantum discord and geometric discord are not always the same, i.e., the increase of geometric discord does not always imply the increase of quantum discord. Then, we calculate the spin-squeezing of the spin chain and find that spin-squeezing first increases with time and then reaches a plateau. The amount of spin-squeezing can be controlled via phase shift.

Quantum Correlations in Spin Chains at Finite Temperatures and Quantum Phase Transitions

T. Werlang, Christian Trippe, G A P Ribeiro +1 more

We compute the quantum correlation [quantum discord (QD)] and the entanglement (EOF) between nearest-neighbor qubits (spin-1/2) in an infinite chain described by the Heisenberg model (XXZ Hamiltonian) at finite temperatures. The chain is in the thermodynamic limit and thermalized with a reservoir at temperature T (canonical ensemble). We show that QD, in contrast to EOF and other thermodynamic quantities, spotlight the critical points associated with quantum phase transitions (QPT) for this model even at finite T. This remarkable property of QD may have important implications for experimental characterization of QPTs when one is unable to reach temperatures below which a QPT can be seen.

TRANSMITTING BIPARTITE AND MULTIPARTITE CORRELATIONS VIA SPIN CHAINS UNDER PHASE DECOHERENCE

AI Jian-feng, Jian-Song Zhang, Aixi Chen

We investigate the transfer of bipartite (measured by cocurrence) and multipartite (measured by global discord) quantum correlations though spin chains under phase decoherence. The influence of phase decoherence and anisotropy parameter upon quantum correlations transfer is investigated. On the one hand, in the case of no phase decoherence, there is no steady state quantum correlations between spins. On the other hand, if the phase decoherence is larger than zero, the bipartite quantum correlations can be transferred through a Heisenberg XXX chain for a long time and there is steady state bipartite entanglement. For a Heisenberg XX chain, bipartite entanglement between two spins is destroyed completely after a long time. Multipartite quantum correlations of all spins are more robust than bipartite quantum correlations. Thus, one can store multipartite quantum correlations in spin chains for a long time under phase decoherence.
