Monte Carlo Simulation of a Hubbard Chain with Disorder

A. Muramatsu, Werner R. Hanke

We study the effect of diagonal disorder on a one-dimensional (1-D) Hubbard model by means of a Monte Carlo simulation. Contrary to previous analytical studies of interacting disordered systems in one dimension, the numerical simulation is not restricted to the weak coupling regime in disorder and/or interaction. Quantum fluctuations are introduced using the scheme developed by J. Hirsch [Phys. Rev. B 31, 4403 (1985)] for Grand Canonical ensembles and arbitrary dimensions. A second Monte Carlo loop creates the configurations for the disorder potential. Preliminary results for various correlation functions are presented.

Quantum Monte Carlo simulation for the spin-drag conductance of the Hubbard model

Kim Louis, Claudius Gros

In the situation of two electrostatically coupled conductors, a current in one conductor may induce a current in the other one. We will study this phenomenon, called Coulomb drag, in the Hubbard chain where the two 'conductors' are given by fermions with different spin orientations. With the aid of a Monte Carlo approach, which we presented in a recent paper, we calculate the trans-conductance in different variants of the Hubbard chain (with/without impurity and additional (long-ranged) interactions) for different fillings.

Single-particle hopping probability on a chain with interaction and disorder by the modified Lanczos algorithm

Cristina Wiecko, G. Chiappe

We consider numerically a chain of ten sites (half filled) described by the Anderson-Hubbard model. The single-particle hopping probability is calculated as a function of disorder and correlation. A qualitative agreement for the logarithm of this hopping probability is found when compared with results of a calculation of the low-frequency conductivity by the Monte Carlo method.
