Abstract

The diffusive thermal conductivity tensor of p-wave superfluid at low temperatures is calculated by using the Boltzmann equation approach. We use the Sykes and Brooker procedure and show that K xx is equal to K yy and these are related to T −1 , also K zz is proporated to T −3 .

Shear viscosity of p-wave superfluid Fermi gas with weak interaction at low temperatures

Soudabe Nasirimoghadam, Roohollah Aliabadi, Mohammad Ali Shahzamanian

The shear viscosity tensor of the superfluid Fermi gas in p-wave state with weak interaction is calculated at low temperatures, by using the Boltzmann equation approach. We consider the transition probabilities for the binary, decay and coalescence processes. We show that only the binary processes are dominated at low temperatures and the components of shear viscosity η_xy, η_xx, η_yy are proportional to (1/T)^2, and η_xz, η_yz and η_zz are proportional to (1/T)^4 and (1/T)^6, respectively.

Transport Properties of Superfluid Dipolar Fermi Gas at Low Temperatures

Maryam Khademi Dehkordi

Transport coefficients of superfluid dipolar Fermi gas are calculated by using the Boltzmann equation approach. The interaction between Bogoliubov-Bogoliubov quasiparticles in the collision integral is considered in binary process. The shear viscosities nxz↑ = nyy↑,nxy↑; nxz↑ ≈ nyz↑; and nu↑ are proportional to T-6; T-8; and T-10 , respectively. Also, we have found the elements of the diffusive thermal conductivities Kxx↑= Kyy↑ with temperature dependency T-5 and Ku↑ which is proportional to T-7 and other components which are zero.

Thermal conductivity and sound attenuation in dilute atomic Fermi gases

Matt Braby, Jingyi Chao, Thomas Schäfer

We compute the thermal conductivity and sound attenuation length of a dilute atomic Fermi gas in the framework of kinetic theory. Above the critical temperature for superfluidity, ${T}_{c}$, the quasiparticles are fermions, whereas below ${T}_{c}$, the dominant excitations are phonons. We calculate the thermal conductivity in both cases. We find that at unitarity the thermal conductivity $\ensuremath{\kappa}$ in the normal phase scales as $\ensuremath{\kappa}\ensuremath{\propto}{T}^{3/2}$. In the superfluid phase we find $\ensuremath{\kappa}\ensuremath{\propto}{T}^{2}$. At high temperature the Prandtl number, the ratio of the momentum and thermal diffusion constants, is 2/3. The ratio increases as the temperature is lowered. As a consequence we expect sound attenuation in the normal phase just above ${T}_{c}$ to be dominated by shear viscosity. We comment on the possibility of extracting the shear viscosity of the dilute Fermi gas at unitarity using measurements of the sound absorption length.

Shear Viscosity of a Superfluid Dipolar Gas at Low Temperatures

Maryam Khademi Dehkordi

We compute the shear viscosity of superfluid Bose and Fermi gases on the base of Boltzmann equation and relaxation times. We show that, in the low temperature limit, the shear viscosities of Bose and Fermi gases are proportional to T-1evp0/T and T-4, respectively. For the superfluid Bose gas at low temperature limit, only splitting processes contribute to the shear viscosity.

Collective modes of p-wave superfluid Fermi gases in BEC phase

F. Matera, Matthias Wagner

The low-energy modes of a superfluid atomic Fermi gas at zero temperature are investigated. The Bose-Einstein-condensate (BEC) side of the superfluid phase is studied in detail. The atoms are assumed to be in only one internal state, so that for a sufficiently diluted gas the pairing of fermions can be considered effective in the l=1 channel only. In agreement with previous works on p-wave superfluidity in Fermi systems, it is found that the $p_x+ip_y$ phase represents the lowest energy state in both the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) and BEC sides. Our calculations show that at low energy three branches of collective modes can emerge, with different species of dispersion relations: a phonon-like mode, a single-particle-like mode and a gapped mode. A comparison with the Bogoliubov excitations of the corresponding spinor Bose condensate is made. They reproduce the dispersion relations of the excitation modes of the p-wave superfluid Fermi gas to a high accuracy.
