We show full control over the spatial correlations in a macroscopic quantum state of light generated via four-wave mixing. Taking advantage of momentum conservation, we engineer the distribution of the correlations via control of the angular spectrum of the pump.

Tailoring spatial quantum correlations for quantum information

Alberto M. Marino

The spatial degree of freedom of entangled beams of light offers unique opportunities for quantum information due to its large dimensionality. Here, we show that it is possible to tailor the distribution of the spatial quantum correlations in entangled twin beams by taking advantage of the phase matching properties of four-wave mixing. This control can enable high-capacity quantum channels and quantum-enhanced spatially resolved sensing and imaging.
