Efficient simulation of QC LDPC decoding on GPU platform by CUDA

Bin Jiang, Jianrong Bao, Xiaorong Xu

An efficient parallel simulation scheme of quasi-cyclic (QC) low-density parity-check (LDPC) decoding is proposed to improve the simulation efficiency greatly. It employs multi-threads with the multi-processors of a graphic processing unit (GPU) to perform the simulation of LDPC decoding in parallel. Other than full hardware based LDPC decoding, it obtains good features of low cost, easy programming complexity by using the compute unified device architecture (CUDA) techniques. The CUDA also provides parallel computing by the GPU with efficient multi-thread computation and very high memory bandwidth. Based on the proposed scheme, all bit nodes or check nodes can be updated in an LDPC decoding iteration simultaneously. Therefore, it provides an efficient and fast approach of QC LDPC decoding.

A parallel decoding algorithm of LDPC codes using CUDA

Shuang Wang, Samuel S. M. Cheng, Qiang Wu

A parallel belief propagation algorithm for decoding low-density parity-check (LDPC) Codes is presented in this paper based on Compute Unified Device Architecture (CUDA). As a new hardware and software architecture for addressing and managing computations, CUDA offers parallel data computing using the highly multithreaded coprocessor driven by very high memory bandwidth GPU. The parallel decoding algorithm, based on CUDA, allows that all bit-nodes or check-nodes work simultaneously, thus provides an efficient and fast way for implementing the decoder.

Improving Quantum Gate Simulation using a GPU

Eladio Gutiérrez, Sergio Romero, Marı́a A. Trenas +3 more

Due to the increasing computing power of the graphics processing units (GPU), they are becoming more and more popular when solving general purpose algorithms. As the simulation of quantum computers results on a problem with exponential complexity, it is advisable to perform a parallel computation, such as the one provided by the SIMD multiprocessors present in recent GPUs. In this paper, we focus on an important quantum algorithm, the quantum Fourier transform (QTF), in order to evaluate different parallelization strategies on a novel GPU architecture. Our implementation makes use of the new CUDA software/hardware architecture developed recently by NVIDIA.
