Abstract

A two-level atom drvien by a strong classical field interacts with a single-mode light field, and the interaction between the atom and the light field can turn into an effective anti-Jaynes-Cummings model under the conditions of strong driving and large detuning. In this paper, we mainly study the two-mode entangled coherent light field in this model, in which one mode of the entangled coherent light field interacts with a two-level atom driven by a strong classical field. During the evolution of the total system, we make a selective measurement on the atom. Through tuning the evolution time and the parameter of the coherent field, we can easily control the quantum statistical properties of the other mode of the entangled light fields and generate the expected non-classical light field in a longer interaction time and a wider region of coherent parameter.

Quantum statistical properties of entangled light fields in nondegenerate k-photon J-C model

Zhou Yuan

Considering two-mode entangled coherent light fields, one mode of the fields was poured into the cavity with a two-level atom and interacted with it by k photons non-resonantly.During the course of cavity-QED evolution of the total system,a selective measurement of the atom was carried out.Through manipulating the evolution time and the parameter of the coherent field which interacted with atom,in certain conditions, the non-classical light such as anti-bunching and squeezing state can be generated, and the strength of non-classical property can be changed. In this way by using the technique for cavity-QED with k photons non-resonantly and the entangled correlation between the coherent light fields, control or change the non-classical properties of coherent light fields remotely without direct measurement was implemented effectively.

Considering two-mode entangled coherent light fields, one mode of the fields is poured into the cavity and interacts with a two-level atom by k photons non-resonantly.After the evolution of Cavity-QED,we have a selective measurement to the atom.Through operating the evolution time, the number of transition photon and detune,we can control the quantum statistical property of the light fields outside of the cavity. After comparative analysis,it is found that, comparing with single photon process and the multiple-photon process, the diversification of anti-bunching and squeezing of the light fields is better.

Anti-Jaynes-Cummings interaction of a two-level atom with squeezed light: A comparison with the Jaynes-Cummings interaction

Christopher Mayero, Joseph Akeyo Omolo

We considered the anti-Jaynes-Cummings (AJC) interaction of a two-level atom in an initial ground state interacting with a field mode in an initial squeezed coherent state at arbitrary values of squeeze parameter r and provided the Jaynes-Cummings (JC) interaction as a comparison. We analysed the degree of entanglement (DEM) measured by the von Neumann entropy and the nature of the field quantified by the Mandel Q parameter in relation to the atomic population inversion during the AJC interaction and separately the corresponding JC interaction. We noted in our examples that at r>1.4, photon statistics evolved to super-Poissonian from sub-Poissonian during the respective AJC, JC interactions. Further, for high values of r, the form of the time evolution of atomic population inversion depicted enhanced ringing revivals at the collapse region in comparison to the case of an initial coherent state. What is more, at higher values of r the time evolution of DEM showed more rapid oscillations and recorded higher values, concurrently, an increase in the degree of mixedness.

Entanglement, Decoherence and Correlations in a Strongly Driven Jaynes-Cummings System

Federico Casagrande, ALFREDO LULLI

We consider the resonant interaction of a cavity mode with a two-level atom that is driven by a coherent field while it crosses the cavity. Starting from the cavity field in a coherent state, we show that the state of the system can reach the maximum entanglement after a unitary evolution for long enough interaction times. Also we illustrate how the generation of cavity field superposition states can allow, in the open system dynamics, the observation of their decoherence in atomic correlation measurements, for any initial cavity field state, and even under the combined effects of dissipation, thermal noise, and atomic pumping.

Dynamics of atom-field entanglement: Towards strong-coupling and non-Markovian regimes

Nick Cummings, B. L. Hu

We examine the dynamics of bipartite quantum entanglement between a two-level atom and the electromagnetic field. We begin with the Jaynes-Cummings model with a single field mode and examine in detail the exact time evolution of entanglement, including cases where the atomic state is initially mixed and the atomic transition is detuned from resonance. We then explore the effects of other nearby modes by calculating the exact time evolution of entanglement in more complex systems with two, three, and five field modes. For these cases we can obtain exact solutions which include the strong-coupling regime. Finally, we consider the entanglement of a two-level atom with the infinite collection of modes present in the intracavity field of a Fabre-Perot cavity. In contrast to the usual treatment of atom-field interactions with a continuum of modes using the Born-Markov approximation, our treatment in all cases describes the full non-Markovian dynamics of the atomic subsystem under general couplings. Only when an analytic expression for the infinite mode case is desired do we need to make a weak coupling assumption which at late times approximates Markovian dynamics.

Scheme for generating entangled states of two field modes in a cavity

Jonas Larson

This paper considers a two-level atom interacting with two cavity modes with equal frequencies. Applying a unitary transformation, the system reduces to the analytically solvable Jaynes–Cummings model. For some particular field states, coherent and squeezed states, the transformation between the two bare bases, related by the unitary transformation, becomes particularly simple. It is shown how to generate (the highly non-classical) entangled coherent states of the two modes, both in the zero and large detuning cases. An advantage of the zero detuning case is that the preparation is deterministic and no atomic measurement is needed. For the large detuning situation, a measurement is required, leaving the field in either of two orthogonal entangled coherent states.
