Two Dimensional Wave Packages Scattering on Step and Rectangular Potentials

Georgii Nikolaevich Krylov

Wave packages reflection on step-like potentials can lead to significant deviation of the mean wave vector in respect to equal angles law due to dispersion of scattering on the region boundary. The calculated cases are step and rectangular potentials for two-dimensional Schr¨odinger equation and Dirac equation for graphene-like charge carriers quasi-particles.

Nonrelativistic fermions and effects related to fractional charge

David Waxman

Nonrelativistic fermions whose motion is constrained by an infinite potential step (hard wall) are considered. Relative to the bulk, a net fermionic charge is induced at the wall due to the vanishing of the many-particle wavefunctions. The charge, linear charge density and the fluctuations from their mean values are calculated.
