The propagators for time-dependent mass harmonic oscillators

Surarit Pepore

In this paper, the propagator for a harmonic oscillator with mass obeying the function of m(t)=mtan2νt is derived by the Feynman path integral method. The wave function of this oscillator is calculated by expanding the obtained propagator. The propagator for a harmonic oscillator with strongly pulsating mass is evaluated by the Schwinger method. The propagator for a harmonic oscillator with mass rapidly growing with time is calculated by applying the integrals of the motion of quantum systems. The comparison between these methods are also discussed.

Quantum Harmonic Oscillator

James W. Rohlf

The harmonic oscillator is defined by a quadratic potential. Many important problems in physics reduce to that of a quantum harmonic oscillator because the leading term of a potential near its minimum is quadratic. It is a general and noteworthy feature of quantum systems that the lowest energy is not zero. Calculate the probability that the quantum oscillator is found beyond the classical limit. Agreement with the uncertainty principle may be checked by calculating the expectation values of x2 and p2 and then taking the square root of the product. For large quantum numbers, the solution must approach that of the classical harmonic oscillator.

Study on Perturbed Harmonic Oscillator by Particle-Number Representation

Xie Quan

Perturbed harmonic oscillator's approximate values of energy level and wave function could be easily calculated by particle-number representation. The proccess is very complicated if it is calculated by coordinate representation. The applicability to solve perturbation of harmonic oscillator by particle-number representation is ascertained due to the study on a example.
