On a new detection scheme for M-ary orthogonal coherent state signal.

Kouichi Yamazaki

We propose a new receiver for M-ary orthogonal coherent-state signal. It is shown that the proposed receiver performs better than a photon counting receiver as to signal detection error probability criterion. It is also shown that the error probability of the proposed receiver is almost minimum for the signal.

M-ary phase shift keying receiver beating the standard quantum limit for any signal power

Christian R. Muller, A. Leven, H. Bülow +3 more

We analyze a novel quantum receiver for M-ary phase-shift keyed signals that outperforms the standard quantum limit for any signal power. We provide a detailed analysis of its robustness against realistic imperfections and discuss the achievable mutual information.

On a sequential measurement of M-ary orthogonal quantum signal. Approach to implementing an optimum receiver

Masashi Kato, K. Yamazaki

We clarify whether the sequential measurement can attain the minimum error probability obtained by combined measurement for an M-ary orthogonal quantum signal. As the results, we show that the sequential measurement can attain the minimum error probability only for binary orthogonal signal but can not for more than a ternary one.
