Beam Tracking Beyond the Heisenberg Uncertainty Limit

Yingwen Zhang, Duncan G. England, Noah Lupu-Gladstein +5 more

Determining a beam’s full trajectory requires tracking both its position and momentum. However, the uncertainty product of the two parameters is bounded by the Heisenberg uncertainty limit (HUL). Here, we demonstrate a quantum beam tracking technique by leveraging position and momentum entangled photons to achieve an accuracy beyond the HUL.

EPR inequalities: a practical tool to identify entanglement and go beyond Heisenberg uncertainty

Milena D’Angelo, Morton H. Rubin, Yanhua H. Shih

We prove the EPRs inequalities allow distinguishing (experimentally) entanglement from classical correlation in momentum and position variables for two particles/photons systems. We discuss the connection between EPR inequalities and uncertainty principle and conclude that only entanglement allows going beyond the limitations imposed by Heisenberg uncertainty on classically correlated systems.
