Recovery of superfluorescence in inhomogeneously broadened systems through rapid relaxation

This paper shows that time-dependent hyperfine interactions of the nucleus with electrons can enhance the superfluorescence (SF) intensity by countering the destructive effect of inhomogeneous broadening on SF.

Competition between homogeneous, inhomogeneous and transversal effects in 130Te2 superfluorescence

Jaafar Meziane, Etienne Boursey, Koutaiba Amezian +1 more

A semi-classical approach is used to analyse how transverse effects and relaxation due to homogeneous and inhomogeneous broadening affect the dynamics of superfluorescence. Results are discussed in order to match our Te 2 data.

Altered branching ratios and relaxation oscillations in superfluorescent cascades

William A. Molander, Carlos R. Stroud

A non-linear rate equation describing superfluorescence in many-level systems is presented. It is shown that when a large atomic population is excited into Rydberg levels the cascade back to lower levels by cooperative spontaneous emission leads to a number of new effects including 'trapping' of population in excited states, alteration of branching ratios, truncation of superfluorescent pulses and multiple pulsing of a single transaction.
