Semi-Classical Discretization and Long-Time Evolution of Variable Spin Systems

Giovani E. Morales-Hernández, Juan C. Castellanos, José L. Romero +1 more

We apply the semi-classical limit of the generalized SO(3) map for representation of variable-spin systems in a four-dimensional symplectic manifold and approximate their evolution terms of effective classical dynamics on T*S2. Using the asymptotic form of the star-product, we manage to "quantize" one of the classical dynamic variables and introduce a discretized version of the Truncated Wigner Approximation (TWA). Two emblematic examples of quantum dynamics (rotor in an external field and two coupled spins) are analyzed, and the results of exact, continuous, and discretized versions of TWA are compared.

A Novel Approximate Numerical Method for Solving the Evolution of the Spin Density Operators

Maryam Hatefi, Farrokh Sarreshtedari, Mahmood Sabooni

An approximate numerical method is proposed and discussed for solving the evolution of the spin density operator when the quantum system has an interaction with an external electromagnetic field. In this method by separating the relaxation and field interaction processes at small steps, instead of solving the conventional Liouville-von Neumann or Bloch differential equations, the time evolution of the density operator is efficiently obtained by a two-stage numerical algorithm. Here we have compared the results of this approach with Bloch equation results for a twolevel quantum system. The proposed approach has potential applications in calculation of the time evolution for different atomic system including nuclear or electron spin resonance systems.

Quantum statistics of systems interacting with electromagnetic fields

N. N. Bogolyubov, V. N. Plechko, A. S. Shumovskiǐ

The equilibrium and dynamic properties of macroscopic systems interacting with a field of electromagnetic radiation are investigated. The regular methods of asymptotically exact solution associated with the use of approximating Hamiltonians and the elimination of boson variables from the kinetic equations are reviewed. Some generalizations of the Dicke model are considered.
