Bures distance and relative entropy

Stanley Gudder, Jean-Paul Marchand, Walter Wyss

We have previously constructed an entropy functional which characterizes statistical inference from partial measurement by maximum relative entropy. Here we discuss the mathematical properties of this concept in greater detail and establish its relation to the Bures distance and the Uhlmann transition probability.

Bures and statistical distance for squeezed thermal states

Jason Twamley

We compute the Bures distance between two thermal squeezed states and deduce the statistical distance metric. By computing the curvature of this metric we can identify regions of parameter space most sensitive to changes in these parameters and thus lead to optimum detection statistics.
