EXPERIMENT OF BOSE-EINSTEIN CONDENSATION AND ITS RECENT PROGRESS

Zhengling Wang

In recent years, the experimental studies of Bose-Einstein condensation (BEC)have obtained fast development, and achieved a series of significant experimental progress. In this review, we will mainly introduce some experimental results of BECs and its recent progress, which include: the realization of alkali atomic (~7Li,~(23)Na,~(41)K,~(85)Rb,~(87)Rb 和~(133)Cs)BEC with positive and negative scattering lengths, the realization of ~1H, ~4He and ~(174)Yb atomic BEC, and the realization of all optical BEC, BEC in microtrap and BEC in lower dimension, even the realization of molecular BECs and condensation of Fermionic atom pairs as well as some applications of ultracold BEC condensates, and so on.

Towards Production of a Dual Species Metastable Helium-Rubidium Bose-Einstein Condensate

L. J. Byron, R. G. Dall, Andrew G. Truscott

We present progress towards the production of the first dual species metastable Helium (He*)-87Rb Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC). The production of a He*-Rb binary BEC would allow for studies of Penning and associative ionization, photoassociative spectroscopy and eventually for a study of bound ultracold He*Rb molecules. The production of a He*-Rb BEC will be realised by modifying the existing He* BEC experiment at the Australian National University [1].

A double species 23 Na and 87 Rb Bose–Einstein condensate with tunable miscibility via an interspecies Feshbach resonance

Fudong Wang, Xiaoke Li, Dezhi Xiong +1 more

Abstract We have realized a dual-species Bose–Einstein condensate (BEC) of 23 Na and 87 Rb atoms and observed its immiscibility. Because of the favorable background intra- and inter-species scattering lengths, stable condensates can be obtained via efficient evaporative cooling and sympathetic cooling without the need for fine tuning of the interactions. Our system thus provides a clean platform for studying inter-species interactions–driven effects in superfluid mixtures. With a Feshbach resonance, we have successfully created double BECs with largely tunable inter-species interactions and studied the miscible–immiscible phase transition.
