Entanglement evolution of a two-mode Gaussian system in various thermal environments

Tatiana Mihaescu, Аурелиан Исар

We describe the evolution of the quantum entanglement of an open system consisting of two bosonic modes interacting with a common thermal environment, described by two different models. The initial state of the system is taken of Gaussian form. In the case of a thermal bath, characterized by temperature and dissipation constant which correspond to an asymptotic Gibbs state of the system, we show that for a zero temperature of the thermal bath an initial entangled Gaussian state remains entangled for all finite times. For an entangled initial squeezed thermal state, the phenomenon of entanglement sudden death takes place and we calculate the survival time of entanglement. For the second model of the environment, corresponding to a non-Gibbs asymptotic state, we study the possibility of generating entanglement. We show that the generation of the entanglement between two uncoupled bosonic modes is possible only for definite values of the temperature and dissipation constant, which characterize the thermal environment.

Evolution of two-mode quantum states under a dissipative environment: Comparison of the robustness of squeezing and entanglement resources

Rishabh Rishabh, Chandan Kumar, Geetu Narang +1 more

We explore the relative robustness of single-mode squeezing and entanglement (which are quantum resources interconvertible via passive optics) for two-mode Gaussian states under different dissipative environments. When the individual modes interact with identical local baths, entanglement and squeezing decay at the same rate. However, when only one of the modes interacts with a local bath, the comparative robustness of entanglement and squeezing depends on the initial squeezing of the state. Similarly, when the system interacts with a global bath, the robustness of entanglement and squeezing depends on the initial squeezing. Thus depending on the nature of dissipative environments and the initial squeezing of the state, one can select the more robust form of resource out of squeezing and entanglement to store quantumness. This can be used to effectively enhance the performance of various quantum information processing protocols based on continuous variable Gaussian states.

Generation and evolution of entanglement in open quantum dynamics

Аурелиан Исар

In the framework of the theory of open systems based on completely positive quantum dynamical semigroups, a description of the continuous-variable entanglement for a system consisting of two independent harmonic oscillators interacting with a general environment was given. Using Peres-Simon necessary and sufficient criterion for separability of two-mode Gaussian states, the generation and evolution of entanglement in terms of the covariance matrix for an arbitrary Gaussian input state was described. For some values of diffusion and dissipation coefficients describing the environment, the state keeps for all times its initial type: separable or entangled. In other cases, entanglement generation, entanglement sudden death or a periodic collapse and revival of entanglement take place. The time evolution of the logarithmic negativity, which characterizes the degree of entanglement of the quantum state was analyzed.
