Rise of quantum correlations in non-Markovian environments in continuous-variable systems

Abstract

We investigate the time evolution of quantum correlations, which are measured by Gaussian quantum discord in a continuous-variable bipartite system subject to common and independent non-Markovian environments. Considering an initial two-mode Gaussian symmetric squeezed thermal state, we show that quantum correlations can be created during the non-Markovian evolution, which is different from the Markovian process. Furthermore, we find that the temperature is a key factor during the evolution in non-Markovian environments. For common reservoirs, a maximum creation of quantum correlations may occur under an appropriate temperature. For independent reservoirs, the non-Markovianity of the total system corresponds to the subsystem whose temperature is higher. In both common and independent environments, the Gaussian quantum discord is influenced by the temperature and the photon number of each mode.

Dynamic of the Gaussian quantum discord and effect of non-Markovian degree

Xin Liu, Wei Wu, Changkui Hu

We study the dynamic of the Gaussian quantum discord in a continuous-variable system subject to a common non-Markovian environment with zero-temperature. By considering an initial two-mode Gaussian symmetric squeezed thermal state, we show that Gaussian discord has a very different dynamic characteristic in a non-Markovian evolution versus a Markov process, and can be created by the memory effect, which features non-Markovianity. We also study the relationship between Gaussian discord and the non-Markovian degree of the environment. The results may offer us an effective experimental method to get more quantum correlations.

We show the special dynamic characteristic of Gaussian quantum discord, exhibited by two-mode Gaussian symmetric squeezed thermal states (STS) in continuous-variable (CV) systems with a common non-Markovian environment, is denitely dierent from Markov processes. We demonstrate that Gaussian quantum discord can be created whenever the information ow from environment back to the system. We also show that the rate of decrease for Gaussian quantum discord is related to the coupling constant. We discover that the initial value of Gaussian quantum discord is determined by the average number of thermal photons of the system.

Quantum correlations of two-mode Gaussian systems in a thermal environment

Аурелиан Исар

In the framework of the theory of open systems based on completely positive quantum dynamical semigroups, we give a description of continuous variable quantum entanglement and quantum discord for a system consisting of two non-interacting non-resonant bosonic modes embedded in a thermal environment. We study the time evolution of logarithmic negativity, which characterizes the degree of entanglement, and show that in the case of an entangled initial squeezed thermal state, entanglement suppression takes place for all the temperatures of the environment, including zero temperature. We analyze the time evolution of the Gaussian quantum discord, which is a measure of all the quantum correlations in the bipartite state, including entanglement, and show that discord decays asymptotically in time under the effect of the thermal bath. We describe also the time evolution of classical correlations and quantum mutual information, which measures the total correlations of the quantum system.

Quantum Discord of Two Bosonic Modes in Two-Reservoir Model

In the framework of the theory of open systems based on completely positive quantum dynamical semigroups, we give a description of the continuous variable quantum discord for a system consisting of two non-interacting bosonic modes embedded in two independent thermal environments. We describe the evolution of discord in terms of the covariance matrix for Gaussian input states. In the case of an entangled initial squeezed vacuum state, we analyze the time evolution of the Gaussian quantum discord, which is a measure of all quantum correlations in the bipartite state, including entanglement, and show that quantum discord decays asymptotically in time under the effect of the thermal reservoirs. For an initial separable pure state, the Gaussian quantum discord is zero and it keeps this value during the whole evolution of the system.

Nonclassical correlations in non-Markovian continuous-variable systems

Ruggero Vasile, Paolo Giorda, Stefano Olivares +2 more

We consider two identical and noninteracting harmonic oscillators coupled to either two independent bosonic baths or to a common bosonic bath. Under the only assumption, weak coupling, we analyze in detail the non-Markovian short-time-scale evolution of intensity correlations, entanglement, and quantum discord for initial two-mode squeezed-thermal vacuum states. In the independent reservoirs case, we observe the detrimental effect of the environment for all these quantities and we establish a hierarchy for their robustness against the environmental noise. In the common reservoir case, for initial uncorrelated states, we find that only quantum discord can be created via interaction with the bath, while entanglement and subshot noise intensity correlations remain absent.
