Abstract

In this paper, we investigate the spectrum of light scattered from a Bose-Einstein condensate in the framework of -deformed boson. We use an -deformed quantum model in which the Gardiner's phonon operators for BEC are deformed by an operator-valued function,, of the particle-number operator n .We consider the collisions between the atoms as a special kind of -deformation.The collision rateκ is regarded as the deformation parameter and the spectrum of light scattered from the deformed BEC is analyzed. In particular, we find that with increasing the values of deformation parameters κ and N 1 = η ( , total number of condensate atoms) the scattering spectrum shows deviation from the spectrum associated with nondeformed Bose-Einstein condensate.

Subluminal to superluminal propagation of an optical pulse in anf-deformed Bose–Einstein condensate

Zahra Haghshenasfard, M. H. Naderi, M. Soltanolkotabi

In this paper, we investigate the propagation of a weak optical probe pulse in an f-deformed Bose- Einstein condensate (BEC) of a gas with the -type three- level atoms in the electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) regime. We use an f- deformed generalization of an effective two- level quantum model of the three- level configuration in which the Gardiner phonon operators for BEC are deformed by an operator- valued function, f(n), of the particle- number operator n. With making use of the quantum approach of the angular momentum theory we obtain the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the system up to first order approximation. We consider the collisions between the atoms as a special kind of f- deformation. The collision rate k is regarded as the deformation parameter and light propagation in the deformed BEC is analyzed. In particular, we show that the absorptive and dispersive properties of the deformed condensate can be controlled effectively by changing the deformation parameter k and the total number of atoms. We find that by increasing the value of k the group velocity of the probe pulse changes, through deformed condensate, from subluminal to superluminal.

The influence of atomic collisions on collective spontaneous emission from anf-deformed Bose–Einstein condensate

Zahra Haghshenasfard, M. H. Naderi, M. Soltanolkotabi

In this paper, we investigate the spontaneous emission of an f -deformed Bose–Einstein condensate of a gas with N identical two-level atoms immersed in a single-mode ideal cavity with s atoms initially excited. We apply an f -deformed quantum model in which Gardiner's phonon operators are deformed by an operator-valued function of the particle number operator . We consider the collisions between the atoms as a special kind of f -deformation where the collision rate κ is regarded as a corresponding deformation parameter. The time evolution of the expectation value of the atomic inversion is presented, the phenomenon of collective collapses and revivals is shown and the effects of deformation on the cooperative behaviour of the system are discussed.

Spectrum of light scattered from a 'deformed' Bose-Einstein condensate

Stefano Mancini, Vladimir I. Man’ko

The spectrum of light scattered from a Bose–Einstein condensate is studied in the limit of particle-number conservation. To this end, a description in terms of deformed bosons is invoked and this leads to a deviation from the usual predict spectrum’s shape as soon as the number of particles decreases. As well known, to deal with the dynamics of BEC gas the Bogolubov approximation in quantum many-body theory [4] is an efficient approach, in which the creation

Gardiner's phonon for Bose-Einstein Condensation: A physical realization of the $q$-deformed Boson

C. P. Sun, Shi Yu, Yune Gao

The Gardiner's phonon presented for a particle-number conserving approximation method to describe the dynamics of Bose-Einstein Condesation (BEC) (C.W. Gardiner, Phys. Rev. A 56, 1414 (1997)) is shown to be a physical realization of the $q$-deformed boson, which was abstractly developed in quantum group theory. On this observation, the coherent output of BEC atoms driven by a radio frequency (r.f) field is analyzed in the viewpoint of a $q$-deformed Fock space. It is illustrated that the $q$-deformation of bosonic commutation relation corresponds to the non-ideal BEC with the finite particle number $N$ of condensated atoms. Up to order 1/N, the coherent output state of the untrapped atoms minimizes the uncertainty relation like a coherent state does in the ideal case of BEC that $N$ approaches infinity or $q=1-2/N$ approaches one.

Quantum Nonlinear Dynamics Of An Atomic Bose-einstein Condensate

Gerard J Milburn, Joel Frederick Corney, David Harris

The quantum nonlinear dynamics of an atomic Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) in a double-well potential is studied. Using a double-well single-particle potential model system and a two-mode approximation, results showed that the coherent oscillations resulting from tunneling are suppressed when the number of atoms is greater than a critical value. The spectrum if nonresonant light scattered by the condensate to include an asymmetric double peak structure with peak separation and relative heights determined by the number of atoms in the condensate and the interaction strength for hard sphere collisions.

Bose–Einstein condensation of a relativisticq-deformed Bose gas

Guozhen Su, Shukuan Cai, Jincan Chen

The q -deformed Bose–Einstein distribution derived from the q -boson algebra is used to study the low-temperature behavior of an ideal q -deformed Bose gas with relativistic energy spectrum. The effects of q -deformation on the properties relative to Bose–Einstein condensation (BEC) are discussed. It is shown that q -deformation leads to some novel characteristics different from those of an original Bose gas, which include the criteria on the occurrence of BEC, critical temperature and jump of heat capacity at the critical point. The results obtained here provide a unified description for the properties of q -deformed Bose systems from the nonrelativistic case to the ultrarelativistic limit, so that some important conclusions in the literature are included in this paper.
