Bethe-Peierls approximation for Lagrangian and Hamiltonian lattice models

Elbio R. Dagotto, Adriana Moreo

The Bethe-Peierls approximation is applied to the classical Ising model in $D$ dimensions and in a variational treatment of the Hamiltonian $Z(2)$ gauge model in 2+1 dimensions. These analytical and simple calculations are in good agreement with exact results.
