Abstract

Realizing an n-target-qubit controlled-phase gate in cavity QED: An approach without classical pulses

Qi-Ping Su, Man Liu, Chui-Ping Yang

We propose a way to realize a multiqubit controlled-phase gate with one qubit simultaneously controlling n target qubits using atoms in cavity QED. In this proposal, there is no need to use classical pulses during the entire gate operation. The gate operation time scales as |$\sqrt {n}$| only and thus the gate can be performed faster when compared with sending atoms through the cavity one at a time. In addition, only three operational steps are required to realize this n-target-qubit controlled-phase gate. This proposal is quite general and can be applied to other physical systems, such as various superconducting qubits coupled to a resonator, NV centers coupled to a microsphere cavity, or quantum dots in cavity QED.

A Proposal for Realizing a 3-Qubit Controlled-Phase Gate with Superconducting Qubit Systems Coupled to a Cavity

Chun-Yao Yang

We present a way to realize a 3-qubit quantum controlled-phase gate with superconducting qubit systems coupled to a cavity. This proposal does not require adjustment of the qubit level spacings or identical qubit-cavity coupling constants. Moreover, since only a resonant interaction is applied, the gate can be performed fast, within ∼ 10 nanosecond. This proposal is quite general, which can be applied to various types of superconducting qubits, atoms trapped in a cavity, or quantum dots coupled to a resonator.

Heralded quantum controlled-phase gates with dissipative dynamics in macroscopically distant resonators

Wei Qin, Xin Wang, Adam Miranowicz +2 more

Heralded near-deterministic multiqubit controlled-phase gates with integrated error detection have recently been proposed by Borregaard et al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 114, 110502 (2015)]. This protocol is based on a single four-level atom (a heralding quartit) and $N$ three-level atoms (operational qutrits) coupled to a single-resonator mode acting as a cavity bus. Here we generalize this method for two distant resonators without the cavity bus between the heralding and operational atoms. Specifically, we analyze the two-qubit controlled-$Z$ gate and its multiqubit-controlled generalization (i.e., a Toffoli-like gate) acting on the two-lowest levels of $N$ qutrits inside one resonator, with their successful actions being heralded by an auxiliary microwave-driven quartit inside the other resonator. Moreover, we propose a circuit-quantum-electrodynamics realization of the protocol with flux and phase qudits in linearly coupled transmission-line resonators with dissipation. These methods offer a quadratic fidelity improvement compared to cavity-assisted deterministic gates.
