Abstract

We study the correlation functions of one-dimensional Hubbard model in the presence of external magnetic field through the conformal field method. The long distance behaviour of the correlation functions and their unusual exponents for the model in the presence of a magnetic field are developed by solving the dressed charge matrix equations and setting the number of occupancies to one, as alternative to the usual zero used by authors in literatures. This work shows that the exponent of the correlation functions is a monotonous function of magnetic field and the correlation functions decay as powers of these unusual exponents. As the magnetic field goes to zero, we obtain the exponents as 8.125, 11.125, 17.125, 26.125 and 38.125 at kF, 3kF, 5kF, 7kF and 9kF. Our analytical results will provide insights into criticality in condensed matter physics.

Tomonaga-Luttinger Liquid Exponents of Correlation Functions around Fermi points in the Hubbard Model

Nelson Oyindenyifa Nenuwe, J. O. A. Idiodi

The correlation functions of one-dimensional Hubbard model in the presence of external magnetic field was investigated through the conformal field technique. The long distance behaviour of the correlation functions and their critical exponents for the model in the presence of a magnetic field are established by solving the dressed charge matrix equations and setting the number of occupancies to one, as an alternative to the usual zero often used by authors in literatures. Our result shows the critical exponents of the correlation function grows monotonically with magnetic field and reduces to definite values at zero magnetic field around various Fermi points.

Critical exponents for the one-dimensional Hubbard model

Holger Frahm, V. E. Korepin

Using results on the scaling of energies with the size of the system and the principles of conformal quantum field theory, we calculate the asymptotics of correlation functions for the one-dimensional Hubbard model in the repulsive regime in the presence of an external magnetic field. The critical exponents are given in terms of a dressed charge matrix that is defined in terms of a set of integral equations obtained from the Bethe-Ansatz solution for the Hubbard model. An interpretation of this matrix in terms of thermodynamical coefficients is given, and several limiting cases are considered.

Luttinger liquid properties of highly correlated electron systems in one dimension

N. Kawakami, Sung-Kil Yang

An exact description is given of the long-distance behaviour of the one-dimensional t-J model at t=J. The authors employ the Bathe ansatz method and the finite-size scaling technique in conformal field theory. The charge and spin degrees of freedom are separated, and described by two independent c=1 conformal theories. The critical exponents for the charge, spin, electron and superconducting correlation functions are obtained for arbitrary band filling. The authors then make detailed comparison of the t-J model with the repulsive Hubbard model with emphasis on the Luttinger liquid properties. Analysing the electron filling dependence they observe the enhancement of the superconducting correlations compared with the highly correlated Hubbard model. The effect of the external magnetic field at and near half-filling is also discussed.

One-dimensional Hubbard model in a magnetic field and the multicomponent Tomonaga-Luttinger model

Karlo Penc, Jenő Sólyom

The one-dimensional Hubbard model in a magnetic field is equivalent under renormalization-group transformation to a multicomponent Tomonaga-Luttinger model. The mapping between the Coulomb repulsion U of the Hubbard model and the couplings of the Tomonaga-Luttinger model is obtained for aribitrary magnetic field h and band filling n from a comparison of the correlation function exponents. These quantities are calculated for the Hubbard model from the finite-size corrections to the excitation energies, since the assumption of conformal invariance relates them to the critical exponents. On the other hand, the correlation functions of the multicomponent Tomonaga-Luttinger model are determined by solving the exact equation of motion derived by the use of generalized Ward identities.

Correlation functions of the one-dimensional Hubbard model in a magnetic field

Holger Frahm, V. E. Korepin

We present a general method for the calculation of correlation functions in the repulsive one-dimensional Hubbard model at less than half-filling in a magnetic field h. We describe the dependence of the critical exponents that drive their long-distance asymptotics on the Coulomb coupling, the density, and h. This dependence can be described in terms of a set of coupled Bethe-Ansatz integral equations. It simplifies significantly in the strong-coupling limit, where we give explicit formulas for the dependence of the critical exponents on the magnetic field. In particular, we find that at small field the functional dependence of the critical exponents on h can be algebraic or logarithmic---depending on the operators involved. In addition, we evaluate the singularities of the Fourier images of the correlation functions. It turns out that switching on a magnetic field gives rise to singularities in the dynamic field-field correlation functions that are absent at h=0.
