Emergent mechanics, quantum and un-quantum

John P. Ralston

There is great interest in quantum mechanics as an "emergent" phenomenon. The program holds that nonobvious patterns and laws can emerge from complicated physical systems operating by more fundamental rules. We find a new approach where quantum mechanics itself should be viewed as an information management tool not derived from physics nor depending on physics. The main accomplishment of quantum-style theory comes in expanding the notion of probability. We construct a map from macroscopic information as data" to quantum probability. The map allows a hidden variable description for quantum states, and efficient use of the helpful tools of quantum mechanics in unlimited circumstances. Quantum dynamics via the time-dependent Shroedinger equation or operator methods actually represents a restricted class of classical Hamiltonian or Lagrangian dynamics, albeit with different numbers of degrees of freedom. We show that under wide circumstances such dynamics emerges from structureless dynamical systems. The uses of the quantum information management tools are illustrated by numerical experiments and practical applications

Emergent Locality from Depth-Restricted Quantum Dynamics

Maksim Ramanouski

We introduce a framework in which spacetime locality and geometric causal structure are not assumed as fundamental, but instead emerge conditionally from quantum dynamics under restricted observational access. We define depth as a restriction on the set of observables accessible to an observer and show that, un- der appropriate conditions of redundancy and decoherence, effective locality and finite propagation speed arise from intrinsically nonlocal quantum systems. Con- versely, locality degrades when these conditions fail. Using simple toy models, we demonstrate threshold behavior separating regimes with and without stable causal structure. This approach reframes spacetime geometry as an emergent description rather than a primitive input, while remaining compatible with standard quantum mechanics and general relativity within their respective domains of validity.

Three Complementary Regimes Suggested by a Geometric Identity: A Phenomenological Investigation of the Relation τ² + |Δpos|² = dL²

Goran Amidzic

The emergence of P = 4 and d0 = 3 from causal axioms P1P4 [1] suggests thata metric structure may underlie this discrete geometry. This paper proceeds phe-nomenologically: we investigate the consequences of the hypothesis that the relationbetween emergent proper time τ , spatial displacement |Δpos|, and causal step dLtakes the form τ 2 + |Δpos|2 = dL2. All results are conditional on this hypothesisand a complementarity assumption stated explicitly in Section 2. This work does notreproduce the quantitative predictions of quantum mechanics or special relativity. It provides a structural perspective only.Under these two assumptions, of the eight possible combinations of sharp and un-sharp quantities, three are naturally consistent with known physics: the macrocosm(Special Relativity), the microcosm (Heisenberg uncertainty), and quantum entan-glement. This paper further suggests that wave-particle duality, the measurementproblem, and the special status of time in quantum mechanics may nd a naturalinterpretation within this framework.
