Coherent states for the cranked harmonic oscillator

Mohammed A. Z. Habeeb

Exact coherent states for a particle moving in a cranked anisotropic harmonic oscillator potential are constructed and their properties investigated. It is found that although these states are not minimum-uncertainty states they give the exact classical motion. As an application, it is shown that these coherent states can be used to facilitate the derivation, in the semi-classical limit, of the equations of fluid dynamics in a rotating frame corresponding to a nucleon in a rotating nucleus.

Solution of the post-Markovian master equation for a damping harmonic oscillator

X. L. Huang, Jing Nie, Jiao Chen +1 more

We solve the post-Markovian master equation for a damping harmonic oscillator by virtue of the damping basis approach. With our solution, we study some features for the harmonic oscillator in non-Markovian channel. The results show that the non-Markovian effect governed by the post-Markovian master equation keeps the semi-positivity and slows the energy decay to environment. Moreover, different from the Markovian process, at zero temperature, a coherent state under time evolution does not remain a coherent state.

The bouncing bob: quasi-classical states

Lorenzo de la Torre, F. Gori

We suggest an elementary scheme for introducing quasi-classical states of a particle that can move on the semi-axis x > 0 only, where it experiences a quadratic potential (a folded harmonic oscillator). Using an image method with coherent and other simple states of the harmonic oscillator, we analyse wavepackets that oscillate bouncing off a rigid wall set at x = 0.
