The universal propagator

Abstract

For a general Hamiltonian appropriate to a single canonical degree of freedom, a universal propagator with the property that it correctly evolves the coherent-state Hilbert space representatives for an arbitrary fiducial vector is characterized and defined. The universal propagator is explicitly constructed for the harmonic oscillator, with a result that differs from the conventional propagators for this system.

The universal propagator for spin [or SU (2)] coherent states

Wolfgang A. Tomé, John R. Klauder

Following constructions in the case of canonical and affine coherent states, a universal propagator for a general Hamiltonian appropriate to a single spin degree of freedom is introduced. The universal propagator is a single function, independent of any particular choice of fiducial vector, which, nonetheless, propagates all coherent state Hilbert space representatives correctly. Furthermore, we explicitly construct the universal propagator for several examples.

The universal propagator for affine [or SU(1,1)] coherent states

John R. Klauder, Wolfgang A. Tomé

It is shown that it is possible to introduce a universal propagator for a general Hamiltonian appropriate to a single affine degree of freedom. This universal propagator is a single function, independent of any particular choice of fiducial vector, which, nonetheless, propagates the coherent state Hilbert space representatives correctly. Furthermore, the universal propagator for several examples is explicitly constructed.

Universal Propagator for Group-Related Coherent States

John R. Klauder, Wolfgang A. Tomé

Dedicated to Prof. Iwo Białynicki-Birula on the occasion of his 601h birthdayIn earlier work universal propagators were introduced for the Heisenberg -Weyl group, the affine group, and the rotation group.By generalizing these constructions we show here that it is possible to introduce a universal propagator for a rather general unitary Lie group. In the context of coherent-state representations, the universal propagator is a single function independent of any particular choice of fiducial vector, which nonetheless, propagates all coherent state Hilbert space representatives correctly.

A new class of coherent states and it's properties.

Abdlgader Mohamed

The study of coherent states (CS) for a quantum mechanical system has \nreceived a lot of attention. The definition, applications, generalizations of \nsuch states have been the subject of work by researchers. A common starting \npoint of all these approaches is the observation of properties of the original \nCS for the harmonic oscillator. It is well-known that they are described \nequivalently as (a) eigenstates of the usual annihilation operator, (b) from \na displacement operator acting on a fundamental state and (c) as minimum \nuncertainty states. What we observe in the different generalizations proposed \nis that the preceding definitions are no longer equivalent and only some of \nthe properties of the harmonic oscillator CS are preserved. \nIn this thesis we propose to study a new class of coherent states and \nits properties. We note that in one example our CS coincide with the ones \nproposed by Glauber where a set of three requirements for such states has \nbeen imposed. The set of our generalized coherent states remains invariant \nunder the corresponding time evolution and this property is called temporal \nstability. Secondly, there is no state which is orthogonal to all coherent states (the coherent states form a total set). The third property is that we \nget all coherent states by acting on one of these states [¿fiducial vector¿] with \noperators. They are highly non-classical states, in the sense that in general, \ntheir Bargmann functions have zeros which are related to negative regions of \ntheir Wigner functions. Examples of these coherent states with Bargmann \nfunction that involve the Gamma and also the Riemann ¿ functions are represented. \nThe zeros of these Bargmann functions and the paths of the zeros \nduring time evolution are also studied.

Heisenberg picture in quantum mechanics and linear evolutionary systems

Pasquale Nardone

A straightforward procedure is presented to derive the propagator in simple quantum systems. This approach enables us to define a state which behaves as a generalization of the well-known coherent state of the harmonic oscillator.

Examples of enhanced quantization: Bosons, fermions and anyons

Tiago C. Adorno, J. R. Klauder

Enhanced quantization offers a different classical/quantum connection than that of canonical quantization in which ℏ > 0 throughout. This result arises when the only allowed Hilbert space vectors allowed in the quantum action functional are coherent states, which leads to the classical action functional augmented by additional terms of order ℏ. Canonical coherent states are defined by unitary transformations of a fixed, fiducial vector. While Gaussian vectors are commonly used as fiducial vectors, they cannot be used for all systems. We focus on choosing fiducial vectors for several systems including bosons, fermions and anyons.
