Degree of entanglement between excitons in two quantum dots in a cavity

Abstract

The dynamical behavior of entanglement for excitons in two coupled quantum dots, that are placed in a cavity is investigated for two different initial conditions. The effects of exciton tunneling and of dissipation of the cavity field and the excitons on entanglement of formation are discussed. It is shown that depending on initial conditions the direct coupling between the dots will enhance or reduce the entanglement.

Entanglement for excitons in two quantum dots in a cavity injected with squeezed vacuum

Gao‐xiang Li, Yaping Yang, Klaas Allaart +1 more

The dynamical behavior of entanglement for excitons in two quantum dots placed in a cavity driven by a broadband squeezed vacuum is studied in the low exciton density regime. It is found that the excitons in two quantum dots can evolve into a pure entangled state only when the dissipation of the cavity and exciton modes is negligible. When the injected field into the cavity is a squeezed vacuum, the excitons will be in a two-mode Gaussian entangled mixed state even in the long time limit. Analytical expressions are derived, showing the dependence of the entanglement property of the excitons in two quantum dots on the squeezing properties of the initial state prepared in the cavity and the strength of two-photon correlations of the squeezed vacuum injected into the cavity.

Entanglement for excitons in two quantum dots placed in two separate single-mode cavities

Gao‐xiang Li, Hua-Tang Tan, Shao‐ping Wu +1 more

The dynamical behavior of entanglement for excitons in two quantum dots placed in two separately single-mode optical cavities driven by an external broadband two-mode squeezed vacuum is studied in the low exciton density regime. It is found that if the field in the two separate cavities is initially prepared in a pure two-mode squeezed vacuum state, the excitons in the two quantum dots can evolve into a pure entangled state only when the dissipation of the cavities and exciton modes is negligible. When the effect of the dissipation is included, the excitons will be in a two-mode Gaussian entangled mixed state whose properties are decided by the externally driven field and the initial field. The dependence of the entanglement property of the excitons in the two quantum dots on the squeezing properties of the fields in the two cavities is also discussed.

Dynamics of entanglement for coherent excitonic states in a system of two coupled quantum dots and cavity QED

Yu-xi Liu, Şahin Kaya Özdemir, Masato Koashi +1 more

The dynamics of the entanglement for coherent excitonic states in the system of two, coupled, large semiconductor quantum dots ${(R/a}_{B}\ensuremath{\gg}1)$ mediated by a single-mode cavity field is investigated. Maximally entangled coherent excitonic states can be generated by cavity field initially prepared in odd coherent state. The entanglement of the excitonic coherent states between two dots reaches maximum when no photon is present in the cavity. The effects of the zero-temperature environment on the entanglement of excitonic coherent state are also studied using the concurrence for two subsystems of the excitons.

Generation and evolution of entanglement in coupled quantum dots interacting with a quantized cavity field

Arnab Mitra, Reeta Vyas, Daniel B. Erenso

The generation of entanglement between two identical, interacting quantum dots---initially in ground states---by a coherent field and the subsequent time evolution of the entanglement are studied by calculating the concurrence between the two dots. The results predict that while it is possible to generate entanglement (or entanglement of formation, as defined for a mixed state) between the two dots, at no time do the dots become fully entangled to each other or is a maximally entangled Bell state ever achieved. We also observe that the degree of entanglement increases with an increase in the photon number inside the cavity and a decrease in the dot-photon coupling. The behavior of the two-dot system, initially prepared in an entangled state and interacting with thermal light, is also studied.

Entanglement and bistability in coupled quantum dots inside a driven cavity

Arnab Mitra, Reeta Vyas

Generation and dissipation of entanglement between two coupled quantum dots (QDs) in a cavity driven by a coherent field is studied. We find that it is possible to generate and sustain a large amount of entanglement between the quantum dots in the steady state, even in the presence of strong decay in both the cavity and the dots. We investigate the effect of different parameters (decay rates, coupling strengths, and detunings) on entanglement. We find that the cavity field shows bistability and study the effect of relevant parameters on the existence of this bistable behavior. We also study the correlation between the cavity field and the entanglement between the dots. The experimental viability of the proposed scheme is discussed.
