Abstract

Schemes proposed for the preparation of two two-level atoms in an entangled state are reviewed. The authors begin Section II with a derivation of the master equation for two nonidentical two-level atoms interacting with the quantized three-dimensional vacuum field and driven by a single-mode coherent laser field. Sections III and IV are concerned mainly with techniques proposed for the preparation of a two-atom system in entangled states. The cases of maximally and nonmaximally entangled states are discussed. Methods of detecting a particular entangled state are discussed in Section V and preparation of a two-atom system in two-photon entangled states is described in Section VI. A method of mapping of the entanglement of light on atoms is also presented.

Quantum entanglement in the system of two two-level atoms interacting with a single-mode vacuum field

Zeng Ke, Mao-Fa Fang

The entanglement properties of the system of two two-level atoms interacting with a single-mode vacuum field are explored. The quantum entanglement between two two-level atoms and a single-mode vacuum field is investigated by using the quantum reduced entropy; the quantum entanglement between two two-level atoms and that between a single two-level atom and a single-mode vacuum field are studied in terms of the quantum relative entropy. The influences of the atomic dipole–dipole interaction on the quantum entanglement of the system are also discussed. Our results show that three entangled states of two atoms–field, atom–atom and atom–field can be prepared via two two-level atoms interacting with a single-mode vacuum field.

Preparation and control of entangled states in the two-mode coherent fields interacting with a moving atom via two-photon process

Xiaojuan Liu, Bingju Zhou, Liu Ming-Wei +1 more

We investigate the preparation and the control of entangled states in a system with the two-mode coherent fields interacting with a moving two-level atom via the two-photon transition. We discuss entanglement properties between the two-mode coherent fields and a moving two-level atom by using the quantum reduced entropy, and those between the two-mode coherent fields by using the quantum relative entropy. In addition, we examine the influences of the atomic motion and field-mode structure parameter p on the quantum entanglement of the system. Our results show that the period and the duration of the prepared maximal atom-field entangled states and the frequency of maximal two-mode field entangled states can be controlled, and that a sustained entangled state of the two-mode field, which is independent of atomic motion and the evolution time, can be obtained, by choosing appropriately the parameters of atomic motion, field-mode structure, initial state and interaction time of the system.

Generation of two-mode entangled coherent states via a cavity QED system

Qing-Xia Mu, Yonghong Ma, Ling Zhou

A scheme is presented for the generation of entangled coherent states in a single-atom cavity-QED system. In the scheme, a three-level V -type atom interacts dispersively with a two-mode cavity and is driven by a classical field. We show that under large detuning conditions the cavity field can evolve into maximally entangled coherent states when one cavity mode is initially prepared in an odd coherent state. The effect of the cavity losses on the entanglement is also studied.

Atom-photon, atom-atom, and photon-photon entanglement preparation by fractional adiabatic passage

M. Amniat-Talab, S. Guérin, Nicolas Sangouard +1 more

We propose a relatively robust scheme to generate maximally entangled states of (i) an atom and a cavity photon, (ii) two atoms in their ground states, and (iii) two photons in two spatially separate high-$Q$ cavities. It is based on the interaction via fractional adiabatic passage of a three-level atom traveling through a cavity mode and a laser beam. The presence of optical phases is emphasized.

Generation of Maximally Entangled States of Two Nonidentical Atoms in Cavity QED

Yuliang Li, Zheng-Wei Zhou, Chao-Yang Pang +1 more

We have discussed the system which consists of two nonidentical two-level atoms trapped simultaneously in a large-detuned single-mode cavity field in this paper. The results show that it is possible to generate maximally entangled states for two nonidentical two-level atoms only if the cavity frequency and difference of two nonidentical atoms transition frequency are selected and the cavity-atom interacation time is controlled.
