Abstract

Since brownian motion can't be defined on a differentiable manifold without assigning on it a riemannian metric by which it depends, Guerra's and coworkers' approach to the definition of the stochastic action in the framework of Stochastic Mechanics is completelly inconsistent

Compatibility between the Brownian metric and the kinetic metric in Nelson stochastic quantization

Daniela Dohrn, Francesco Guerra

In the frame of Nelson stochastic quantization for dynamical systems on a manifold, we consider diffusion processes with Brownian covariance given by a Riemannian metric on the manifold. The dynamics is specified through a stochastic variational principle for a generalization of the classical action, with a given kinetic metric. The resulting programming equation, of the Hamilton-Jacobi type, depends on both metrics, the Brownian one and the kinetic one. We introduce a simple notion of compatibility between the two metrics, such that the programming equation and the continuity equation lead to the Schr\"odinger equation on the manifold.

Stochastic Mechanics and the Unification of Quantum Mechanics with Brownian Motion

Folkert Kuipers

We unify Brownian motion and quantum mechanics in a single mathematical framework. In particular, we show that non-relativistic quantum mechanics of a single spinless particle on a flat space can be described by a Wiener process that is rotated in the complex plane. We then extend this theory to relativistic stochastic theories on manifolds using the framework of second order geometry. As a byproduct, our results suggest that a consistent path integral based formulation of a quantum theory on a Lorentzian (Riemannian) manifold requires an Ito deformation of the Poincare (Galilean) symmetry, arising due to the coupling of the quadratic variation to the affine connection.

A quantization of diffusion processes on manifolds

Lu, Y.G.

Via the well known chaos decomposition with respect to the multidimensional Brownian motion, we give a possible quantization of a diffusion process (in particular, Brownian motion) on a Riemannian manifold. The quantized diffusion process on Riemannian manifold is a quantum Brownian motion on a Holbert space determined by the momentum algebra.

Stochastic metric space and quantum mechanics

Y. Kurihara

A new idea for the quantization of dynamic systems, as well as space time itself, using a stochastic metric is proposed. The quantum mechanics of a mass point is constructed on a space time manifold using a stochastic metric. A stochastic metric space is, in brief, a metric space whose metric tensor is given stochastically according to some appropriate distribution function. A mathematically consistent model of a space time manifold equipping a stochastic metric is proposed in this work. The quantum theory in the local Minkowski space can be recognized as a classical theory on the stochastic Lorentz-metric-space. A stochastic calculus on the space time manifold is performed using white noise functional analysis. A path-integral quantization is introduced as a stochastic integration of a function of the action integral, and it is shown that path-integrals on the stochastic metric space are mathematically well-defined for large variety of potential functions. The Newton–Nelson equation of motion can also be obtained from the Newtonian equation of motion on the stochastic metric space. It is also shown that the commutation relation required under the canonical quantization is consistent with the stochastic quantization introduced in this work. The quantum effects of general relativity are also analyzed through natural use of the stochastic metrics. Some example of quantum effects on the Universe is discussed.
