Entanglement and Bell inequality violation in vector diboson systems produced in decays of spin-0 particles

Alexander Bernal, Paweł Caban, Jakub Rembieliński

We discuss entanglement and the violation of the Collins-Gisin-Linden-Massar-Popescu (CGLMP) inequality in a system of two vector bosons produced in the decay of a spin-0 particle. We assume the most general CPT conserving, Lorentz- invariant coupling of the spin-0 particle with the daughter bosons. We compute the most general two-boson density matrix obtained by averaging over kinematical configurations with an appropriate probability distribution (which can be obtained when both bosons subsequently decay into fermion-antifermion). We show that the two-boson state is entangled and violates the CGLMP inequality for all values of the (anomalous) coupling constants and that in this case the state is entangled iff it can violate the CGLMP inequality. As an exemplary process of this kind we use the decay [Formula: see text] with anomalous coupling.

A general framework for the Quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno effects

Adam Zaman Chaudhry

Repeated measurements can slow down (the quantum Zeno effect) or speed up (the quantum anti-Zeno effect) the temporal evolution of a quantum system. In this paper, a general treatment of the quantum Zeno and anti-Zeno effects is presented which is valid for an arbitrary system-environment model in the weak system-environment coupling regime. It is shown that the effective lifetime of a quantum state that is subjected to repeated projective measurements depends on the overlap of the spectral density of the environment and a generalized 'filter function'. This filter function depends on the system-environment Hamiltonian, the state of the environment, and the measurement being performed. Our general framework is then used to study explicitly the Zeno to anti-Zeno crossover behaviour for the spin-boson model where a single two-level system is coupled to a bosonic environment. It is possible to not only reproduce results for the usual population decay case as well as for the pure dephasing model, but to also study the regime where both decay and dephasing take place. These results are then extended to many two-level systems coupled collectively to the bosonic environment to further illustrate the importance of the correct evaluation of the effective decay rate.

Dynamics of the inhomogeneous Dicke model for a single-boson mode coupled to a bath of nonidentical spin-1/2 systems

Oleksandr Tsyplyatyev, Daniel Loss

We study the time dynamics of a single boson coupled to a bath of two-level systems (spins 1/2) with different excitation energies, described by an inhomogeneous Dicke model. Analyzing the time-dependent Schr\"odinger equation exactly, we find that at resonance the boson decays in time to an oscillatory state with a finite amplitude characterized by a single Rabi frequency if the inhomogeneity is below a certain threshold. In the limit of small inhomogeneity, the decay is suppressed and exhibits a complex (mainly Gaussian-like) behavior, whereas the decay is complete and of exponential form in the opposite limit. For intermediate inhomogeneity, the boson decay is partial and governed by a combination of exponential and power laws.
