Sze-Shiang Feng, Qiu Xijun

The critical exponents of the triangular lattice Ising model with long-range interactions are calculated by the real space renormalization group. Using the simplest Kadanoff blocks and the lowest approximation of cumulant expansion, it is shown that there exists a finite critical temperature when .

Calculation Method for the Three-Dimensional Ising Ferromagnet Thermodynamics within the Frames of $ρ^6$ Model

Mykhailo P. Kozlovskii, Ihor V. Pylyuk, V. V. Dukhovii

Calculation of thermodynamic functions of the three-dimensional Ising ferromagnet above and below critical temperature is performed in the approximation of sixfold basis distribution ($ρ^6$ model). Comparison with the results for the $ρ^4$ model indicates that dependence of the thermodynamic functions on the renormalization group parameter $s$ becomes weaker. The optimal interval of the renormalization group parameter values is determined.

Critical Exponents for the Three-Dimensional Ising Model from the Real-Space Renormalization Group in Two Dimensions

Zvi Friedman

The equivalence of the critical behavior of the $d$-dimensional Ising model at a finite temperature to that of a $d$- 1 dimensional system at zero temperature as a function of a transverse magnetic field is used to calculate the critical exponents for the three-dimensional model by applying the Niemeijer-Van Leeuwen renormalization-group method to the two-dimensional problem.

Renormalization-group study of the ferromagnetic Ising model on the triangular lattice

Chris Unger

The dynamic real-space renormalization group of Mazenko and Valls is applied to the zero-field ferromagnetic Ising model on the triangular lattice. Renormalization equations valid for all temperatures above the critical temperature ${T}_{c}$ are derived for the susceptibility, specific heat, structure factor, and correlation length. The magnetization is found for $T<{T}_{c}$. The critical exponents and amplitudes for these quantities are calculated. The agreement between the known static properties and the renormalization-group results is good to excellent, and shows that this renormalization-group method can accurately calculate nonuniversal, as well as universal, quantities on different lattices. The computed dynamic structure factor, however, exhibits nonmonotonic behavior as a function of temperature. This nonmonotonic behavior is conjectured to be due to approximations in determining the expansion parameters.

Ising Spin Glasses and Renormalization Group Theory: the Binder cumulant

P. H. Lundow, Ian A. Campbell

Numerical data on scaling of the normalized Binder cumulant and the normalized correlation length are shown for the Thermodynamic limit regime, first for canonical Ising ferromagnet models and then for a range of Ising spin glass models. A fundamental Renormalization Group Theory rule linking the critical exponents for the two observables is well obeyed in the Ising models, but not for the Ising spin glasses in dimensions three and four. We conclude that there is a violation of a standard Josephson hyperscaling rule in Ising spin glasses.

Real-space renormalization-group analysis for finite ferromagnetic systems

Lawrence G. Dunfield, Jaan Noolandi

The real-space renormalization-group transformation based on the cumulant expansion is modified for systems with free-surface boundary conditions. A discussion is given of the accuracy and limitations of the method and of the extension to higher orders in the cumulant expansion. Free energies and heat capacities of ferromagnetic strips ($n\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}\ensuremath{\infty}$) and slabs ($n\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}\ensuremath{\infty}\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}\ensuremath{\infty}$) are determined over a wide temperature range. Exact results are obtained by a transfer matrix technique for strips with $n<~8$, and compared to the renormalization results. The critical or pseudocritical behavior is found to approach the bulk limit as $n\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\infty}$ according to a simple power law $|{T}_{c}(n)\ensuremath{-}{T}_{c}(\ensuremath{\infty})|\ensuremath{\propto}{n}^{\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{\lambda}}$, where the shift exponent $\ensuremath{\lambda}$ is equal to the reciprocal of the critical length exponent. Renormalization equations are used for the first time to calculate the heat capacity of the three-dimensional Ising model over a wide temperature range. In addition, the effect of surface anisotropy is considered for ferromagnetic strips, and procedures are outlined for obtaining analytic derivatives of the free energy with respect to the renormalized parameters.

Calculation Method for the Three-Dimensional Ising Ferromagnet Thermodynamics within the Frames of ρ6ρ^6ρ6 Model
Calculation of thermodynamic functions of the three-dimensional Ising ferromagnet above and below critical temperature is performed in the approximation of sixfold basis distribution (ρ6ρ^6ρ6 model). Comparison with the results for the ρ4ρ^4ρ4 model indicates that dependence of the thermodynamic functions on the renormalization group parameter sss becomes weaker. The optimal interval of the renormalization group parameter values is determined.
