Abstract

In this paper, we present the analytical solution of the Fokker-Planck equation of non-degenerate optical parametric amplification(NOPA)for generation of squeezed light. The maximum intra-cavity compression of squeezed light derived from the analytical solution is 1/16(vacuum fluctuations 1/4). To compare it with that of the previous result 1/8 of degenerate optical parametric amplification(DOPA), it seems that the squeezing for NOPA is superior to the squeezing for DOPA.

Quantum fluctuation of nonlinear degenerate optical parametric amplification

Chao Zhao, W. H. Tan

An analytical solution of the Fokker–Planck equation for the nonlinear degenerate optical parametric amplifier (DOPA) is presented, taking into account the influence of pump depletion on the generation of squeezed light. Results conform to those obtained using perturbation series expansion theory near threshold, and also apply to the whole region far away from threshold. When the nonlinear term(η → 0) is neglected, the solution transitions naturally to the linear approximation solution; when the nonlinear term is retained (∞ η), in the case μ → 0, the quantum fluctuations are close to vacuum fluctuations; in the case μ ≫ 1, squeezing increases, and tends to the result obtained using linear theory, 1/(1 + μ).

Quantum fluctuations of the optical parametric amplification system under the consideration of dispersion

In this paper, we first find out the analytic solution of the time-dependent Fokker-Planck equation of the non-degenerate optical parametric amplification (NOPA) system under the consideration of the dispersion, the loss and the pump depletion effects. Then, through the numerical calculation, we obtain the squeezing characteristic of the degenerate optical parametric amplification (DOPA) system with dispersion. the research indicates: the dispersion effect stems from the nonlinear susceptibility change from χ″ toχ″/{1+σ2/}/+2, with the increasing of the dispersion effect, the general feature of the squeezing curves beeps unchanged, and the curves contract toward left. The maximum squeezing approaches to the linear theory 1/(1+μ). Finally, we obtain the entanglement characteristic of the NOPA system with dispersion. We find out when σ is given, with the increasing of pump parameter μ, he corresponding phase makes a large change. The nonlinear susceptibility changes many times. When the polarity is positive, the system obtains the gain, when the polarity is negative, the system suffers the loss, but the gain is mainly dissipated by the loss, so the net gain is small, the squeezing is also small. The minimum variance V1 reduces gradually, and the whole curve moves to the right, approaches to the linear theory 1/(1+μ).

The solution of the time-dependent Fokker–Planck equation of non-degenerate optical parametric amplification and its application to the optimum realization of EPR paradox

Chao Zhao, TAN WEI-HAN

In this paper, the solution of the time-dependent Fokker–Planck equation of non-degenerate optical parametric amplification is used to deduce the condition demonstrating the Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen (EPR) paradox. The analytics and numerical calculation show the influence of pump depletion on the error in the measurement of continuous variables. The optimum realization of EPR paradox can be achieved by adjusting the parameter of squeezing. This result is of practical importance when the realistic experimental conditions are taken into consideration.

Analysis of amplitude-squeezed light generation with Gaussian-beam degenerate optical parametric amplifiers

Orhan Aytür

Summary form only given. The generation of quantum states of light, such as squeezed states, often relies on degenerate optical parametric amplification. The input signal in a degenerate optical parametric amplifier (DOPA) may be amplified or deamplified depending on the phase of the signal field relative to that of the pump field (/spl Delta//spl phi/=/spl phi//sub pump/-2/spl phi//sub signal/). We present the results of an accurate numerical DOPA model for the generation of amplitude-squeezed light with Gaussian pump and signal beams. We find that the widely accepted 3-dB limit imposed by the Gaussian beam profiles can actually be exceeded in the tight focusing regime.

Effect of squeezing on the degenerate parametric oscillator

Javed Anwar, Muhammad Suhail Zubairy

The effect of squeezing on the degenerate parametric oscillator is studied. It is shown that when the ordinary-vacuum reservoir is replaced by a squeezed-vacuum reservoir, the maximum 50% limit of the second-order squeezing inside the cavity can be crossed. It is also shown that the mean number of photons increases considerably. An exact steady-state solution for the Fokker-Planck equation for the field mode is also presented. The photon distribution for the intracavity field and the higher-order variances have been obtained by using the solution of this equation.

Parametric oscillation with squeezed vacuum reservoirs

A. Mebrahtu

Employing the quantum Hamiltonian describing the interaction of a two-mode light (signal–idler modes) generated by a non-degenerate parametric oscillator (NDPO) with two uncorrelated squeezed vacuum reservoirs (USVR), we derive the master and the Fokker–Planck equations. The corresponding Fokker–Planck equation for the Q-function is then solved employing a propagator method developed by K. Fesseha [J. Math. Phys. 33 2179 (1992)]. Making use of this Q-function, we calculate the quadrature fluctuations of the optical system. From these results we infer that the signal–idler modes are in squeezed states. When the NDPO operates below threshold we show that, for a large squeezing parameter, a squeezing amounting to a noise suppression approaching 100% below the vacuum level in one of the quadratures can be achieved.
